    hi guys,
i been offered a cheap car with an interesting private plate on it. s4svr perfect for a ducati or audi owner. i,m interested in it as a money maker or to keep on retention but the car i don,t want. would i be able to transfer the plate on to a retention then probably scrap the car as its an oldish one. could i scrap the car unregistered and how would i go about the transfer as the local dvla office down here is no more! thanks all! :)

    From dvla bit of gov.uk

I have a personalised registration on my vehicle. Can I take it off the vehicle and keep it on a certificate?

You can apply to retain it (keep it on a Retention certificate) by completing a V317 Application to transfer or retain a vehicle registration number. The cost to retain it is £105.00.

For more information and to download the form, click here:
