Today, I got pulled over. He congratulated me on my lovely bike and riding style, and also commented on my lovely 7x5 plate, with the excruciatingly funny " my other toy has tits" slogan.
He presented me with a lovely certificate for doing ever so well, and as I was soooo pleased, he asked that I gave a donation of £60 to the police benevolent fund to help them towards their chipshop dinners and other nice things.
2 lovely bike coppers at the roundabout near Prees Heath, one went round the roundabout a few times displaying his animated skills, while the other, I presume, was congratulating him on his efforts and also letting him know of the 5 bikers going straight on that one of the lovely yellow plates was deemed illegal.
Be aware guys, I know some us run 7x5 plates, I do and always think that I take it on the chin if I get collared for the great crime of having undersized lettering. The ruler came out, the fooking lot.

Just a heads up chaps for the Cheshire lot.

So does this mean that you are going to change your plate size or just carry on regardless?

Why is it that they never pull the f**kin muppets that drive on the right hand side of the road( wrong side of the bollards), just to get past me on my mountain bike on the way to work, or the other inbreeds that have to race you off every set of f**kin traffic lites just because you have a fastish Audi, or the other twats that overtake their mates whilst having a race on the wrong side of the road( yet again, on the wrong side of the bollards) in a 30 limit, but , we have to be pulled for the fucki* heinous crime of , wait for it, a smaller than normal number plate that u can probably read, fair play if you have wun with dumbass font on it, but this chaffs my friggin nuts.
O h yea, its still fine for everybody to drive around with your f**kin fone attached to your ear whilst negotiating a roundabout/ junction or car parking space whilst holding people up, yeah thats perfectly o.k.

I'm glad I live in the backside of Britain. More sheep than people and very rare to see active policing.

I think this is one grates on most people, I got had a about 18 months or so ago and also had the pleasure of donating the £60.
The copper kindly added the fine had only just gone up from £30 - £60 and was bit of a twat about it all.

+1. Exactly the same here. Always run a legal size now.
If you have a small plate, you may as well fit a sign saying "Stop me please".

Around 1pm ish mate. I know a few of us have 7x5 plates matey, so just be aware. Like i said, if we run 7x5, then if we get a tug... no point moaning, just cough up the donation.
I've fitted Rizoma indicators and the tail tidy from Evotech, the standard plate obscures the indicators .... bummer.

I mentionedsomething similar a few months back...not only did I get the fine but had to send a photo of the correct sized plate in situ to the DVLA and was told if I get caught again with a slightly smaller plate the plate would be confiscated and a Q plate issued......needless to say I run a bigger plate nowadays.....Essex Police got to love them Nottttttt!

The times you see incorrect font and postioning on cars reg does beggar belief but as we all know its all about aethestics on bikes.....

    HERE'S SOME SCIENCE.....

    9x7 plate at 100 yards.

    8x6 plate at 75 yards

    7x5 plate at 50 yards

ALL LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME SIZE!!!

and can still be clearly read by anpr and speed cameras, as i have taken it upon myself to prove for the benefit of all mankind. (and even womankind and gay and lesbiankind)

what i do find odd is that if you have a 9x7 plate with legal font and spacing, but decide to trim 1/2" off the yellow border so your indicators are not partially obscured by the hooj spoiler / sail... it instantly becomes illegal, even though this has zero detriment to the plate's visibility or legibility.

i also find it strange that plod will pull a biker with an 8x6 plate with legal font etc, yet will turn a blind eye to B19 NOB in his uber saxo with non reflective black n white plates with strategically placed bolts to make numbers look like letters.... and illegal spacing, cyrilic font, james bond plate flipper etc - not to mention the 5" megafone scraping along the deck
