Picked up my new Black Blade from the shop this morning, horror of horrors i had to ride through a stream of water from a burst water main i'm looking for recommendations for cleaning products to keep her looking as good as new for as long as possible whats the best paintwork and plastics friendly cleaning materials ? liquids, clothes, degreasers etc etc .. thank you
Julian First of all, welcome to the forum... Secondly, are you quite mad? Asking for cleaning advice on here is like like standing on a hill in a thunderstorm shouting "The gods are all bastards!" At the sky. Not me, of course, but there's more cleaning OCD sufferers on here at Porton Down. I hope you've got a good note taking pencil and a sharpener. You're going to need them any minute now...
Hello Julian, look a Meguiars range of products, I have a black blade and it comes up fantastic with their polish and wax.
Julian - go take a look at this web site Car Care Products | Detailing Products | Free UK Delivery - These guys sell an amazing range of products a lot of them have detailed write-ups on effectiveness and ease of use. It is primarily a car detailing company but there is plenty there for bikes. Polished Bliss would recommend a good carnauba based polish for a black coloured car so no difference for a black bike except Mr Honda's paint is a bit thin so don't get too carried away. You can apply a good carnauba wax in direct sun something you shouldn't do with most polishes. If you browse the site it will take you through each stage of cleaning, polishing and sealing the paintwork. Once you find a product you like the look of find the best price on the web. PB are quite competitive on price but still worth shopping round. I think the main thing with bikes is to clean them after practically every ride. That way the stuff that scratches the paint and corrodes the nuts and bolts gets washed off. Scottoil FS 365 comes highly recommended by me - apply all over engine after the bike has dried. It does a great job at stopping corrosion. Happy detailing - Steve
If you follow what Si does you won't go far wrong. Do a search. His bike is two years old and STUNNING.
"The Gods are all Bastard`s"..... Splattered coffee every where again.... tis going to be a very long thread.
Haha cleaning. Well i use muc offs range and i must say do me great justice. There range of quick wax/polishes bring my blade up a treat
Julian, you should be rubbing your nose in it mate, I can’t believe you got it dirty in the first place. PM Carl he will put you right.
Bikes are meant to be ridden and dirt is just something to deal with. The dirtier your bike the more fun you've had ask zeeponey.
Is it still minging??? I haven't sleep for the past 3 nights, all because of the thought you have a dorty motor sickle.
I am totally obsessed with having an immaculate bike ( I even take out each fairing bolt, wrap the thread in a little piece of cloth, put it in my drill and polish the head!) And I've always used mer car polish. I personally think it gives better results than any if the bike specific stuff I've tried. Its expensive but can be used on almost anything.
Mer has just brought out a new range in black bottles not sure how good it is but will report when I get it in my shop.
had to give it a bit of a rinse Si picked up a load of Meguirs goodies today for future use seat cowl, black asv levers on order, thinking of black footrests, bit ott or not ?
