Been looking at the hydraulic clutch mc on my bike as thinking of replacing it and noticed two electrical connections like you see on the brake mc for the brake light switch. Question is what are the electrical connections for on a hydraulic clutch ?
if i remember right....... need to have the clutch lever pulled in if the bike is in gear to start the engine, hence the switch
Cheers guys that makes perfect sense. I guess what confused me is on my other bike which has a cable clutch there was no switch at the lever so I did nt think of it being for starting in gear but I guess on cable clutch bikes it has a different method of applying the same process. Every day is a school day, lol. Cheers.
Did a test today and the only thing that happens if you disconnect the clutch pressure switch is the bike cannot be started in gear, so say for example if you stall it at the lights you can't just pull the clutch in and fire it up you have to find neutral first. The engine still cuts out if in gear and you put the side stand down as this logic is operated by a different switch fitted to the actual side stand. The latter cut out (i.e in gear and you put side stand down) is the only comment to check in the maintenance section of the manual and my Haynes manual mentions no requirement for either cut out in the MOT check list. So my question is can anybody see any problem with me not connecting the the clutch pressure switch if I fit an Accossato Clutch M/C, basically I don't want to fit a banjo pressure switch and don't want problems come MOT time.
