    Hi all,

I have quite a few cold tears on the centre area of my rear Pirelli BSB tyre.

As the tyres are squaring off I am going to change them anyway ( not enough bends around here).

What I would like to know though, apart from the squaring off, are they a safety risk ?

The most likely cause is tyre pressure too high (although I have not altered the pressure since they were last re-fitted to new wheels about 400 miles ago. The cracks seem about 1mm deep and go right around the circumference.

If I lowered the pressure and warmed them up slowly could I get rid of the tears ?

    Thanks in advance

    Nigel

Hi sinewave, have not checked them since getting bike back from garage as I have hardly used the bike since ie 400 miles and my gauge is broken and I do not trust the petrol station ones. I know I should check them before every ride......but that does not happen. I always keep them at the recommended pressures.

36 psi Front & Rear is a good Solo Road Combo

Std Honda pressures are too high for Solo use

That would be why then sinewave, I have used the honda figures of 36 f 42 rear, I assume the garage did as well.

I have been doing some research since and also read the other threads on here on tyre pressures.

I will run with 36 front and rear as you recommended. Thanks sinewave your a gent.
