So sorry for missing this one.

Originally when I first fitted the G9 I used the boom mic.
Worked ok, but in a full face helmet there was a little bit too much boom left 'imo' and it was also getting caught when putting the helmet on and off, and the mic was almost to,the side of my face, this didn't seem to make the slightest difference when communicating with the other riders.
I used it on the Devon run last year like it, and it was fine, but just the annoying bit afore mentioned.
Moving on to Spain trip I ran the wired mic, mainly because on this kind of trip there's a heck of a lot of removing/fitting your lid.
I placed the mic directly in front of my mouth on the chin guard, making sure to avoid the vents so as not to restrict them.
The wire for the speaker sits in the rubber rim around the helmet and is less in the way and a few bits of tape secure the bit of wire left.
Try both options see how you feel, it is just a two minute job to change the mic's over should you change your mind?

I've got a Starcom digital and on that you place the mic right in front of your lips (you should be able to "kiss" it)
If you place it anywhere else, even slightly off, the auto noise reduction doesn't work which means it auto mutes or doesn't increase volume with the speed.
    Hope this helps.
