I have just booked my hotel for this at the "Thistle Brands Hatch Hotel" which is 200 yards from the track.i have booked from the 18th September to the 20th September .Its only 18 miles from the centre of London so if anyone wants a night out after the trackday I am up for it.
Bump not long now for this dropping my bike of at Andys this week who is kindly bringing it down in a van we have hired . Apparently we have a night out planned after the trackday if you can't make the trackday be good to meet up for a beer , Contact Jimbo or Dave for details of titty bars we are going to , sorry I mean bars .
Looking at possibly doing this one (work permitting). What kind of lap times do you realistically need to be doing to hold your own in Inters on the GP layout? I'm prob still novice at the times I was doing but fancy the step-up although don't want to be the putz getting in the way of the faster Inters boys. I'm not fazed by being outgunned on track but would rather not spoil other people's lines.
YT you haven't met the Kent boys yet especially our Jimbo on home soil We are going into Inters 2 to go as a group then whoever is quick then into fast group.Depends on what talent is there mate.
Very much depends on the day mate... I usually run fast but have seen some quick boys in inters. Certainly wouldn't call big Andy or Jason slow Moily - as for gp, they are running 4 groups, I've dropped into inters 1 and so have most others, that way we can all either stay put, move to inters 2 or up to fast, see how we feel.... But that does make it flexible for everyone tbh. Give it a go, will soon be apparent if your in the right group or not pal.
Oops! We shouldn't be posting... Ps - think jezza is right about the 1 and 2 mate, but either way we are the one below fast group lol
Don't be daft mate, I've only been in inters once myself! and that was oulton last time as the others were in it... Went from novice to fast tbh... But know some lads that do reg and wouldn't call them slow lol Although Jason and Andy should be in fast IMO
re: Inters 1 & 2 - I may be wrong but when we did the 4 group GP last month, there wasn't a distintion between the two, it was just that they wanted double the amount in Inters. Pretty sure one group isn't meant to be faster than the others - although like I say, I may be wrong but didn't get that impression when we were there. I was running just over the 2 minute mark in Novices, although I reckon I could get into the low-ish 1:50's with a following wind. Is that Inters pace? It's hard to tell in novices as we had proper wobblers and a guy who was racing there the following week and couldn't get in the Fast or other two Inters groups so was whipping us good n' proper!
I think if you have done track days before and are riding a new track its best to start of in inters just to learn the track you might know how track days work etc but its only fair to the fast lads on track that day as you dont want to hold them up just because you are unfamilar with track. If then you are confident that you can hold your own in fast then ask to move up ,i will at brands if i feel i can run with the pace of fast but if the pace is good in inters then HAPPY DAYS.
Moily,Just over 2 minutes is inters pace according to a mate Pete.1 minutes 40s is fast group times.Anything under 1.50 is considered quick.Anything under 1.40 is very quick bordering on what he calls the limit.1.50 in the morning with traffic down to 1.40 last few sessions when track gets empty. He may even turn up there cos he wants to see all our blades.
Have we got a garage reserved yet? How many to a garage? We are on track at every 15mins after the hour.Fast group= 9am 10am etc Inters2= 9.15am 10.15am etc followed by Inters1 then Novice group.
Unless they've changed it from last month you'll be going out every 80 minutes as they stuck to 20 min sessions which meant dropping down to 5 during the day with an hour between each one. Fast went out at 9.00, 10.20, 11.40, 2.00 and 3.20, for example. As there weren't many red flags during the day they did extend the last sessions of each group to 25 mins, to take it up to a 5pm finish. (Although they didn't tell anyone which confused us gearing up at 4.20 and then having to wait for 15 mins!)
I hope they will stick to this format. I don't mind the wait tbh, would rather wait a bit longer and have more time on track.... 5 x 20mins on gp is a good day for that price IMO
Even better if you get 20mins instead of 15mins.Thats nearly another 3 laps. The girl at No limits did tell me it is 15 mins per session.Lets hope she is wrong.Maybe the track staff prefer 20mins.Whatever happens I'm there to enjoy it.I will ring No limits monday to try and reserve a garage.
GARAGE Number 15 and 16 are reserved for us old boys for tomorrow.Just had confirmation from Mark at No limits.
