Hey guys, , does anyone of you try their service ? What do you think about it? Any other similar to copart? I bought there once uppon a time a cbr 600rr , only watching few photos;p yeah i know it was risky but damn that was a good shot ! Even few things i didnt expected to be broken... but at the end I had quiet fresh bike for cheap money
Never bought from there but an interesting site. Its amazing how much written off Supercars fetch Copart You don't see many Blades on there.
Not sure i'd want that ferrari, but mint ones are going for £150k, be interesting to see how much it does sell for.
Got my track bike from Copart. It was a light cat D and didn't have a lot wrong with it, bodywork and a few fairly minor parts, almost all of which I'd have changed for the track anyway. I'd certainly get another from them. Mine was given the 'once over' by a trained eye prior to bidding which I think is a wise thing to do.
I think I may have been that 'trained eye' that Midrange referred to I've had membership of Copart for a good few years now and I have bought a few bikes from there (different depots) over the years. It's a reasonable place to go if you fancy buying a bike that has been written off by the insurance companies. That may be stolen/recovered, CAT B, C or D write off and even some unregistered (non CAT) bikes. However, they do have a membership fee (I think it was £50 a year last time I looked) but you don't need to be trade to join. The biggest problem I've found with Copart is the prices. Over the last couple of years bikes have been going for very good money. Most have gone for their used value (prior to accident damage) less the cost of 'reasonable' repairs. It used to be that a write off was worth 25-30% less (and in the open market this still seems to be correct) but on Copart auctions it's just gone mad. Copart are an American company who have been buying up salvage yards in the UK and have massively changed the way the market works using online auctions to increase the buyers 10 fold. It used to be that I could go to a Universal Salvage yard (15 years ago!) and bid against 30 other people. Now a Copart auction is online with 500+ active bidders. Prices are going to be high for that reason alone. However, I've also seen a lot of bikes being sold to the eastern European market at very high prices. There's all manner of reasons for that too happen, but all it means is that these crash damaged bikes are hitting very high sale values. If you do fancy buying a bike from Copart, definitely go and check it out first, before you bid. Some depots only allow you to view at certain times so phone in advance and book yourself in. Take a hi-viz jacket with you as they will charge you £5 to 'borrow' one of theirs! The photos that are shown online can often miss quite important details that could either cost you a lot or even make the bike more attractive. HPC, Salvage Market, Bluecycle (now sold out to Copart) were other places to find them but they are finding it tough up against the power of Copart. I've not renewed my membership to Copart this year!
Same as sideshow on this copart ruined it we used to use universal Hewitt salvage blue cycle but all have been bought out by copart . They charge a bidding fee buying fee loading then if cat b or commercial vat on top and vat on the other charges it soon changes a good price to a not do good price ATTACH]14844[/ATTACH]
