Yo everyone Just installed the new M4 GP, it is really loud and I'm guessing I'll be getting pulled over a fair bit now. Anyone know the law on exhausts? It is not marked "not for road use" or "race use only" but it doesn't have a BS stamp on it. Whats the score? Cheers
As far as I know there is no law on unmarked Exausts but there is the anti social line They sometimes come out with but I think this Is only if someone complains. Maybe someone else will know more on the subject But I have never got stopped for a race can yet.
This thing is ridiculous though.. or maybe i'm not used to a loud can, had a leo vince on the 600rr with no baffle in and id say its atleast twice as loud as that probably 3x
I first bought a jardine RT5 that's was stupid loud and I hated it after a week! Got my yoshi R77 now and with the baffle it its just about right. Got a picture of yours fitted? How about a video!?? I must be getting old as a can that's too noisy ruins my ride experience....
http://1000rr.co.uk/mods-upgrades-accessories-products/2209-155.htm#post144686 I didn't have time to get a video today but I'll put one up once I get chance to be a minimum safe distance of 2 miles from any houses or people...
You might want to save this link as a favourite for when you need to give them a call, but you might have to speak up: BTA
I think I'm just looking more for some sort of "how to deal with the fuzz" guide during one of my inevitable stops
You may be missing the point here Tyke .The idea is to enjoy your machine and your mates and not piss everybody off in the process .We all have cans but the last thing you need is to be attracting the cops or spoiling the runs through the villages for others .Just my opinion (and doesn't mean i am right)
I think the police can compare your bike to a standard one and if it is significantly louder can give you a ticket or give the bike an ASBO - I will ask and find out
Understood giv but im not just another yobo who wants to go around goin look at me and pissin people off. I think theres already enough bikers out there doin that and givin us all a bad name. The can just turna out to be a lot louder than I expected and I just want to know how to deal with a dtop should it occur. Probably not as experienced with the police as some of you and I get the feelin that because I'm a young lad they might just assume me to be naive and give me a ticket regardless of an explanation
If ya that bothered Tyke then fit the optional stage 2 quite insert (part # Q3) (Which you shulda bought in the first place!) M4 Exhaust ยท High Performance Motorcycle Exhaust Systems
I've been stopped twice by the police attracted by other 'magnet': slightly smaller number plate On each occasion my (reasonably loud) exhaust was also inspected, but the coppers were specifically looking for 'for race use only' markings. If you don't have any but the exhaust is ridiculously loud, in the worst case the copper might give you a formal order to have your pipe 're-tested' by the MOT garage and to have the results delivered to the Police station. So, you should have the chance to fit the baffle But the best advise is: be reasonable, stupidly loud exhausts are pissing everyone around, and might for example ruin your trackday, as noise checks are almost compulsory now on most of the circuits
