Hi all i'm new to this forum and looking for some help, has anyone here suffered from any crankshaft noise and had the crankshaft and primary drive replaced which is what my bike is undergoing now under warranty. Apparantly the primary gear teeth deform under heavy or shock loads ie wheelies. I was wondering if anyone with this upgrade has suffered any more issues with the crankshaft since having it done.. My bike is a 2009 hrc Many thanks

My bikes still waiting to go in for the replacement apparently they havent extended the warranty on this part officially here but are willing to replace it even though my bike is out of warranty. Some one else I know also has the same problem and is having his done also on his 09 blade.

Hi got mine done eventually at Norton way Honda in Letchworth only because they had carried this job out competently on my friends blade they also did a good job of the mine but weren't any where near where I live I'd highly recomend them. I wouldn't take it to hgb Honda in Ruislip as these tossers denied there was a problem as soon as they new it was a warranty job when a day previous they where happy to accept the problem and charge for it.

Shouldn't really make much difference to the dealer if it's a warranty or retail job, either way the dealer gets paid for doing the work.

Depends how much their labour rate is but ours is £4.20 less an hour when done under warranty and any dealer turning work away either warranty or retail at this time of year might not be around this time next year.

Hi no they weren't reluctant at all it was due to hgb Ruislip denying the problem existed then when I checked with Honda Europe they told me hgb Ruislip had my bike and where carrying out the repair which wasn't the case as I still had my bike. So it took me a while to clear up the issues with hgb and their lies. I did find out that the reason some of the dealers are reluctant is the profit margin on warranty jobs is not great and they also had to purchase the parts from Honda then claim back the cost of the parts later.

MrB, You seem to be the guy in the know about this thread. I have an '09 HRC Blade, and reading this and the other thread regarding this problem am I right to understand you can see if the bike has had the recall/fix by looking for a punch mark on the clutch lever?
Or have I got the totally wrong end of the stick?

You will have a punch mark under the 4th digit of the VIN located on the right side of the steering head if this has been done which I doubt, this problem is very rare
