Being fed up with the traffic enjoying the sunshine today on the decent roads, I took to the back roads for a blast. Most of the roads I ride normally are not in the best of condition but the GSA soaks up the worst. The blade is another matter and it rattled over the patchwork of tarmac, only doing maybe 50mph I hit what was perhaps a 10 inch wide and 4inch deep dip(not a hole) and my 'bits' slammed into the tank. (not the first time this has happened in the last week of ownership  ).

I know a blade is better suited to smooth roads/track and I've read all the threads on suspension setups. I don't want to mess with the suspension myself but being a lardy 15stone, I need to find someone who can set the bike up correctly.

I'm based in Blackpool, is there anyone in Lancashire who can set up the suspension for my weight/cr@p roads. I've googled everything I can think of but can't find anywhere.

Kais suspension. Manchester, Not too far. They will set the bike up for your weight. Should make a noticable difference!

Thanks Villan, Atherton is even nearer than Manchester, I'll give them a ring tomorrow.

Assuming I know most of the roads you will be going to traveling on around these parts WyreFlyer?
Your really going to have to try and find a happy medium, "not fortune telling type off the sea front;)"
Bats and I have spent quite a bit of time on mine, setting the sag and rebound etc I can tell the difference but there are some parts that I feel a little out of sorts on.
Also before you start clicking and turning away at the screws have a look to see if the settings have already been adjusted? If they have put them back to standard try it again and then make the changes to suit.
Keep a note of what you do,
I think someone suggested we keep a record of the changes and post them on a thread so at least anyone around the same weight etc has a rough idea of what's hot and what's not so

You gotta have some balls to ride a blade, but no one told me they about them being constantly crushed. Riding on Fenland roads I often end up feeling like my balls are behind my ears. LoL

Hi mate before you go spend £50 with Kais Suspension try these settings for your weight , rebound front end 1.5 turns out from full hard , compression 2.25 turns out from full hard ( Bottom Adjusters ) ,set the sag on the front forks to about 40mm for road use , to the rear set the sag to about 35mm , set the rebound to 10 clicks out from full hard , and the compression to 12 clicks out from full hard

You've inspired me to check my suspension settings,i don't have nuts to be crushed, but i do have bone that bruises and it can get rather uncomfortable. All the settings were on hard so Ive put them all back to factory settings and see how i get on with it.I think its been set up for a 15 stone man not a 9 stone female.:)

Hi Ashblade, glad it spurred you to find out and I'm jealous that you have the know-how to fix it yourself! :(
I was introduced today to a motorcycle mechanic, that I didn't even know had a workshop in our village and he's going to set the bike up with me on it, hopefully this week.

Bobmg, we'll set the bike to standard and then work to my weight and bad roads.(There's a straight I love on the GSA but today on the Blade anything over 60 was bouncing the hell out of the bike let alone me) It'll be interesting to see how close your suggested settings are to what we decide to set and also if they will actually help, maybe the blade should only stick to smooth stuff. Thanks again for the info. :)
