Do..... you need to use exhaust sealant paste when fitting a new slipon (Akra race) or are the clips good enough to crimp and seal the pipes?

I've used I on cars in the past, but don't know if the same applies to bikes too

prings are enough to give a proper seal, gasket seal can make a real mess+it's hard to get it off again.

Wouldn't bother with paste, as said by Scooby it makes a big mess and removal a bugger.
As it's new the mating surfaces will be undamaged so should fit perfectly. I bought a second hand Leo V once where the previous owner over tightened the clamps damaging the tubes. Had to use paste to make airtight. It set so hard couldn't remove when I came to sell!

Yup after taking mine off was just the Springs. I use Exhaust Paste on my kit car but never heard of it being used much on bikes.

Anyone know why? out of interest

At a guess - perhaps the car exhaust's are more prone to torsional twisting due to their length?

+ the springs will probably pop off with all the f*king speed bumps smacking into the 'zorst

My Akra slip on had a big, soft deformable, copper seal that crushed flat as the bolts pinched up and sealed it.

But yes, Callum's right. Car engines move a lot, bike engines hardly at all. I've seen racing cars with sprung junctions between manifold and pipe but they don't need MOTs.
