I've been waiting all day for @dainesefreak to say he's ordered 2 sets of leathers; one in matte black and red, and the other in BMW colours.
Dainese can kiss my rosy red arse at the moment. The kit generally lasts for years, as long as you can put up with the zips being shite. Thinking of calling myself Rev'ITfreak next year.
Wow. I bought RST jacket from NEC last Nov. Very thick and heavy leather. Good so far. Also have a Repsol and MV jacket through London Leathers: https://www.londonleathers.co.uk/ Even though they're made 'offshore', they are good quality. Repsol is a bit vibrant, but I'd rather that than a construction worker's yellow flouro vest. Only problem is cleaning bugs off white leather. I'm sure @Stevie_d can relate to this!
You might have quite a limited audience for this one if you're actually looking for someone who's used the airbag.
Yep agree on the zips...they do bust quite quick if you use it a lot. I end up having heavy duty ones put in. Shame because the gear is soooo gorgeous In fact my new jacket that I don't need has just arrived .... The fit & feel of the soft leather is just superb & I think the main zip looks a bit sturdier than usual! Maybe they've taken on board the comments ( or the threat to kiss your baboon arse has worked )
Those spindly little metal zip pulls are shit, especially on the arms and pockets. The number of jackets I've had where the zip pulls have snapped off and I've used a bootlace I can count on one hand. Yes they do last quite a long time once the zips have snapped off and been replaced; but a £400/500 jacket with old boot laces hanging off it doesn't look great. This is my current jacket; The poxy pocket zips drive me mad, especially when I'm in my usual morning rush with a rucksack on and the zip just refuses to work one handed. If I had a cat I'd kick it around the kitchen.
Oh yeah I've had the zipper pull come off a few months old Alpenstars jacket too I think it's because they're so flimsy to deal with the strain put on them. I bought a little replacement one you just clip on after exhausting various professor pat pending substitutes. https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/hemline-zipper-puller-ring-bronze/586588-1000
Send the missus mate if you ever need one....it's full of v scary ladies stroking wool balls who look like they've come from a Wallace & Gromitt film
Nah....never bothered cleaning em.. Always a sign of a good Yorkshire night out finding them covered in chip fat & dried mushy peas next morning
The Airbag system is in the jacket. I tried all of them, the Alpinestars (separate system Jacket) and the Dainese Misano 1000 (2015) and bought the Dainese D-Air Misano 2017 (latest), which is the best in my opinion with the most protection. If you wear the Alpinestars System, it feels like you have to carry a big stiff shelf on your back.
