Cheers rob I've just cleaned the bottom of the contacts that were loose anyway just reset the alarm and it's sorted my prob if it does it again I will tape them both up . If I ever go out for a ride with you in the spring / summer I'll buy you a drink . Nice 1 cheers again
Do you need the alarm for insurance purposes? Datatool have a reputation for going wrong and eating batteries if I were you I'd just get shot if not needed for insurance. Get a big chain instead
Alrite rob my alarms started to go off again the 2 contacts that are under rear seat clip I have cut and taped together it's still not working is there anything else I could do or have I got wrong wires ???!!!
Has unit become dis lodged Or sat on the piss there are tilt switches built in ? Just a thought ? Is battery in good order as low battery might be an issue ? Just another thought ??
Hi rob I don't know if I've dislodged anything, I've took all the tank off today took exhaust off from the manifold ready to put full stainless on ( when gaskets arrive ) the battery is low now cos alarm keeps going off , do you know how to take alarm off it's all wired into the loom ?!!.
As Rob suggests could be the tilt sensor, which is a crude ball bearing in a sealed tube of fluid, that can become stuck, or it could be sensing a voltage drop on the system, have you checked for an unusual current draw? But given all that, if it ain't needed for insurance purposes then rip it out, as it won't stop your bike being nicked. All they do is solder the wires from the control unit into the loom so you can trace and cut and seal them.
As Kentblade says it's fairly easy to remove your Datatool alarm, i had nothing but trouble with the one on my Bimota so one Sunday afternoon set about removing it. I de-soldered my wiring, just followed the wires from the control box de-soldered and taped up the exposed wire. Great peace of mind now just put the key in and start no more worrying about the alarm disarming or not as was the case on a number of occasions.
