Just fitted my datatool heated grips. I liked the idea of the heat selector built into the hand grip, particularly as there isn't a lot of spare room on a fireblade. If anyone else is thinking of buying these grips, I can only report that I am extremely pleased with the finish product, although fitting required a bit of modifying.
I won't bore you with all the details, but I'll give you the important bits. Firstly clean the handle bar so it's spotlessly clean. These grips are a tight fit, no glue is required, but I used an aerosol penetrating oil to lube the shafts before fitting. Hairspray is an alternative of liquid soap. I lined up the grips (cable at the bottom ) and used a rubber mallet to slide them onto the bars. The throttle grip will require a sharp blade to chamfer the end that meets the bar end weight. Otherwise it will foul and restrict the throttle movement, by preventing it from returning to the closed position.
Running the wires in front of the fork tubes is no problem, i ran mine down the right hand side of the bike and lost some slack behind the damper box, tucking the wires down into the recess and along the side of the tank, tucking in the wire as I went. I found that the throttle grip wire worked best with some slack and not cable tied until routed around the right hand fork.
I cable tied onto the factory cables on the right of the headstock and the end result, other than the datatool branding looks pretty much factory fitted.
The grips work a treat and switch off virtually straight away after turning the ignition off.

do they wire right onto the battery or do you need to tap into the ignition feed? (never fitted them before)

They wire straight to the battery. They come with an inline fuse. The grips will only operate if there is a charge current going to the battery. As soon as you turn the engine off they turn off about 4 secs later.
