A couple of years ago i got my 2018 SP. I had the option of having the Datatool TrakKIng Adventure tracker fitted for free. Obviously being a Yorkshireman, owt for nowt as we say. :) After all I can have it installed and decide afterwards if I'm going to use it. At the time I think it would've been £299.
So the tracker was fitted, I wasn't too happy when I found out the subscription to this service was going to be £109 per annum, especially as the Honda website read along the lines of the subscription being £10. It didn't say £10 per month, I thought it was a special off for the first year. I took Honda to task on this but gave up, as you do with Honda.
I wasn't too happy, again when I learned that the tracker will kill the battery within a couple of weeks if the bike isn't being used. So I had to shell out on a special charger, so much for owt for nowt. I know some peeps on here say you don't need a special charger but better safe than sorry. In fact the battery was so flat I wasn't sure the Optimate could save it. After all I didn't really know how long the battery had been totally dead for, it could've been months
But the Optimate did its stuff and revived the poor little (and light) thing.

Does the Tracker work? Without a doubt, yes.

I sent my bike via van for a service once and Datatool rang me to tell me within a few minutes, that my bike was in motion without the ignition key on.
They have also contacted me a couple of times to check everything is OK as they hadn't received any comms from the bike, usually when the bike hasn't been out of the garage for a few months.
I get texts if the bike is knocked or moved whilst in my garage. Once I got a text to say it had moved and all I did was moved the handlebar from one lock to the other. The bike is on a 1Jac so neither wheel is touching the ground, so bike didn't actually move anywhere, so I think it is safe to say that it is sensitive.

But, whilst I am on the subject of texts, I am disappointed that despite paying £110 a year subscription for the tracker, texts are limited to 5 per month. If you want more text these can be purchased for £15 for 100 texts. These texts last as long as it takes to use up your 100 texts. If it sends you a text to say your handlebars have moved then it wouldn't take long to use up your 100 texts. TBH I find this a bit tight on Datatool's behalf as the cost to them for texts must be minimal if at all. (After all you can buy a car TomTom sat nav and all data is free via the built in SIM for ever) I spoke to Datatool about this when they were chasing me to renew my subscription and the lady said that texts could be turned on/off at will in the app. So if you move the bike for any reason, turn the texts off. But remember to turn them back on. I think you can get it to turn the texts back on using a schedule but I've not delved that far into the app yet.

Taking of the app, it has improved tremendously over the last couple of years, or maybe it hasn't improved and my understanding of it has improved either way the app is sooooo much better albeit not very intuitive sometimes. For instance EWM ALERTS refers to sending texts. Why can't it say text alerts?

Overall my experience with this device although off to a shaky start is great. It tracks your routes to look at later if need be, speed tracking is possible and fortunately can be turned off. It can automatically send out crash alerts, once again this can be turned on/off in the app. The app even tells me my bike, parked up in the garage is facing north (it is) amazing.
I got mine for free, but would I buy one and then have it installed? Probably. It's good to know someone is watching my bike when I'm not.

By the way don't renew your subscription early, as it will renew from the date you renew NOT from the date your previous subscription would end.

    Excerpt from Datatool website
TrakKING Adventure S5 is the most user friendly and accurate motorcycle tracking system available today, using the latest satellite technology and a multi network roaming SIM, ensuring the widest possible coverage across Europe.

    Hardware RRP £359.00

I'm not sure if this includes installation

With bikes getting more and more expensive but just as easily stolen as they ever were. It's almost a must. You can argue that it's insured and wouldn't want a stolen bike back, but if it's only just been taken, get it back is what I say, before the damage is done. We can all do without the hassle of an insurance claim and raised premiums as a result of that claim. Plus having to declare the loss for the next 5 years when getting a quote.

I note the trakKing adventure has now been replaced by the Datatool Stealth.

It now has this feature. Looks like Datatool are paying attention.
In addition to the tracking capabilities, Stealth also monitors the vehicle battery and will notify the owner of a low battery condition before the battery becomes completely discharged.

Mate has one of these on his r1 and says it’s amazing, like you say getting phone calls when he’s disconnected battery etc!
Suppose the better thing about a tracker to an alarm is the simple fact you can track it, thieves will still lift a bike into a van with alarm going off!

I am just finding it more & more challenging to own something you enjoy having without having to worry about it being damaged (insurance claim nightmares) or stolen!

I am old enough to have experience a period in my life when you worked, earned, then bought something you liked and enjoyed it without such worries & headaches. The good old days ???

Low desirability has now become one major critaria in my purchasing policy.

take my hat off to you guys who have the stamina & perseverance to soldier on:)

Had one of these on my 2014 Blade, agree with the issues above, the annual fee is high, but yes they do contact you so it does work, my only issue was that it was replaced twice in just over 5 years, the second time cost me £50 as it was out of warranty, which really cheesed me as I had already had one fail.

As part of my 6 month saga getting my RA-H's intermittent fault resolved, once I got the bike back I immediately noticed that I had an issue with the old Datatool TrakKing unit - turns out the battery in it had died and was unrecoverable. Fortunately Datatool/Doble Honda agreed to replace the tracker with a new TrakKing S5 which are still available - I think the Stealth refers to the car version perhaps?

Anyway, I've been looking at the options of the "new" App for this, which as @Kevin1 says is much improved over the older version. I've not used the bike much since the new S5 was installed, but so far it appears to behave itself - now the unit has a Bluetooth fob that must be within a few metres of the bike when moved which I think is a nice touch and so far seems to work well if just moving the bike around the garage.

I was warned that these units can drain the battery more aggressively than the old one, so I guess I'm keeping my bike hooked up to a trickle charger for those times when I'm not using the bike on a regular basis. I do like the added feature of logging journeys, but not so sure about the speed monitoring which can of course be turned off.

At £109/year or something like £259 for 3 years, the subscription cost is ok I guess although it doesn't seem to make a difference to my insurance premiums just provides me with peace of mind when it's away from the house and my wife likes the ability to check where I am when a "just popping out for a quick ride" turns out to be more than an hour or so.. her interpretation of "quick" clearly related to length of time ;-)

Bonjo you must be old if you can remember bikes not being stolen, In the 80's RD350's and CBR600's were the main ones, taken for production racing.
    I had my Z200 and RD400 stolen,
And I think if you go back just before I was born it was horse rustling :D
