Just watching a profile on Dave Degens on Cafe Racer. I would crawl on bloody knees to learn from that guy.
You must be a lot older than your years Ken? DD is quite a colourful character, 1963 he won the 24 hour road race in Barcelona and had his own company Dresda Autos in Putney Bridge where he specialised in Cafe racer Bonnies, used to drool all over the shop window. He also introduced the 8 leading shoe which was very successful on race tracks.
Afraid so mate. I'd heard of him as a Triton guru and a bit of an innovator but when I watched the programme last night where they showed him scrounging around bike jumbles and fabricating frames and explaining some of the stuff he invented for his race bikes...Well it just made me despair more of my own 8:00 to 5:00. Dresda's still going by the looks. He's just moved into the sticks.
