Found this online somewhere, thought it was an interesting rumour:

Velociti Magazine: Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade with Dual Clutch Transmission(DCT) in India by 2012??

Though expensive, Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) system by Honda is undeniably one of the best features any motorcycle rider could get. This system which was developed for the VFR Sports Tourer series is reported being modified to suit one of the most popular SBK from the den of Honda, the CBR 1000RR Fireblade. Alongside with this, Honda also wants to revise the design of their DCT system in order to make it more feasible and economical to offer the same with more products.

The company will be retaining the same basic layout of the VFR’s DCT system for their new DCT, along with the concentric input shafts of the VFR’s twin-clutch tranny. But, the reduction in costs will be brought in by simplified electronics and sensors that are housed inside DCT, but doing this Honda is really cautious on the efficiency and shift time of the entire system when compared to the one on VFR.

Reading this we are sure one question would for sure creep in, Why is Honda going in for such a big circus?? Well, the DCT option, if chosen on the VFR, shoots the cost of bike by atleast 10% and 10% of approx 12K Pounds is really fat money. Hence, Honda aims to make the entire system more affordable by the elimination of one of the potentiometers, measuring shift drum position and thereby telling the system’s computer which gear the bike is in.

Honda is expected to launch the DCT equipped CBR 1000RR sometime in 2012, and if they can position and price the bike competitively in the market, I am sure they will find many takers for the bike.

Seeing the ways things are working out for Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI), we can expect the DCT equipped Fireblade to breeze into India closely along with it's international launch, as HMSI is already on it's toes to get in DCT equipped VFR sports tourer for the Indian market sometime this year.
