Theres a few videos on the tube about this.... Not sure id like to try it though, cant be good for the bike having little bits of metal bouncing around.
If you can get the headers and cat off, drill out the cat internals. Made of ceramic and wire mesh so easy to get out and no bits left inside. Power increase is there just with this mod. Drill out the baffles whilst headers off and blow out, no metal in engine! Rebuild and more power, with lotsa noise!!!
I've managed get a 2nd hand can so I'll be doing it while it is off the bikes no chance if swarf etc goin near engine, also what does the exhaust valve mod do?
Im sure iv seen a video where a guy drills out the silencer wall through the 2 outlets in the muffler
The exhaust valve mod stops the "exhaust gas control valve" from operating! Releases more noise and some say liberates a small amount of power / driveability at low revs. Keep researching because it's a good idea to fully understand all the apects of your exhaust before going ahead and gutting it.
Also, read megawatt's advice carefully as it's important. The 07 model's cat is in the headers (different to 08+ models). Are you just planning on gutting the can, but leaving the cat?
I'm planning on just debaffling the can and leaving the everything else, hmmm looks like more research when I finish work, cheers guys for your help so far
There was a mod on the 600rr where you drilled two holes in the silencer at a particular point. Was meant to make it sound louder and raceier. I tried it and just sounded like a loud exhaust leak! Just plugged the holes back up and got a slip on can. Unless you like the standard can look, best thing to do is just pick up a can. Should be able to get one reasonably priced of the bay of fleas!
