guys, I'm considering buying my first Blade, and looking for as much advice as possible, but before taking he plunge, I'm wondering if it's worth spending the extra cash on a 2012 model instead of buying a £5k 2010 model?
What's the real world differences between the two?
Does the 2012 feel lighter and more agile etc?

    Hey tonic,

    The most obvious changes are:
    Dash
    Forks
    Shock
    Fairing
    Wheels

small changes in loom ie injectors and probably improvements to stator.

Side to side the +12 does look more modern, I haven't ridden a 2012 on the track so can't comment on the handling/performance difference

Cheers guys. I'm still undecided what to do...... think the 2012 will be easier to sell come resale time, but the 2010 is cheaper..... and can't see the suspension being that much better for a steady rider like myself....

If you find another £700 you can have my 13 plate. Surely that’s a no brainier?

You ride my bike for 3 years and sell it for £5k. Almost cheaper than walking?

Actuallly i think you’d still get £5700 for it so it’s a free bike.

I had the RR9 and loved it. Seriously up there with the best bikes I have owned. I did however fit braided lines and the balance free cushion rear shock from the 12 to mine and it was night and day better. However, the deal being offered above is too good to be true. I'd snap it up if available.

Thank you @1000rr73 , that sounds interesting although unfortunately above my budget, (the damage also bothers me). But a 2012/13 model would be the ideal solution......
The 2010 has also only done 6000 miles and been for sale for weeks, so thinking he might be open to offers.....

I have a genuine new panel and clutch cover so there is no damage. They’re included and I can fit if needed. But, if £5700 is above your budget I think you’ve answered your own question and you’ll be buying a 2010. Happy shopping, they’re great bikes.... i’ve Had 4 in a row.

Here you go, a shiny rh panel...

Can also fit GB racing covers or yoshi covers if you like.

Also, if you’ve only got £5k do you have £700 of stuff to trade to plug the gap?

Not tried to sell anywhere else as short on time and motivation. Give it another week here or I’ll try eBay or other sites but it’ll be more.

Let me know if you want to talk more.

Digi clock and the rear shock are the two key points.. personally find the right price bike either model and you wont loose much on either and for £100 you can easily pick up a second hand 2012 showa shock which does improve things even for us mear mortals.

2008/9 bikes have been the £5k mark for a few years so if you buy a 2010 well you wont loose much..

Just steer clear of the way old ABS issue for either year

My mate once told me buy the dearest bike you can afford.
You will not believe the difference a couple of years make.
It was the dash that persuaded me to go 2012 and above just for the gear select indication.
The bike offered sounds ok because when you resell only you will know it had a small sider

Unless you’ve bought and owned a bike from new you’ll never know what it has been through. Perspective definitely needed....The bike was lent down at 5mph, gutting yes because of the cost to repair and it was perfect before, but it only touched two parts and replacements are here for both and it’s priced at trade money lower than any other bike by quite a margin.

If that bothers anyone then please buy a new one otherwise you’ll never know if it’s been stuck in a hedge, in the back of a transit, high sided at brands, thrashed from cold. I buy new bikes for that reason and am about as picky as they come. Heck, I must have lost 20k in the last few years. If losing 20k isn’t an option then one may need to accept you don’t know every part of its history (unless the seller is as honest as me)

At £5k buy on price and condition and importantly buy the seller. I’ve been on these blades for years and have a ton of experience and bought tons of parts. It’d be a doddle to change these bits but why not pass on a cheap bike here. At the moment I need space and time more than squeezing maximum cash.
