This is a continuation of the video posted up on the found on Youtube thread but obviously can't take over that thread with discussions about the ring so decided to start a separate one so we can discuss more. I just saw the bike crash at the 3m 30s bit and I couldn't even understand how he low sided it there as you would think he wasn't that leant over. Maybe he grabbed the brake or maybe the track just has some oily patches as high powered turbos tend to spray a bit out under heavy loads....?? Bike totalled and for tapping that armco he probably got hit with 2k of costs from the track maybe?
And look at the knob at 3m 45s!! WTF man!?!? That one was entirely avoidable unlike the others haha Even for that he would have a big fine no doubt. Recovery truck charge, session stop charge, ambulance charge (mandatory for bikers), Maybe they even charged him for scuffing the grass.... The 4min one is just too much power too early so clinical highside.... 4min 50 would appear to be another knob lol 5m 10s the biker almost gets rear ended by a bmw slowing down on the exit of a fast corner to check on his mate..... Not really wise but then you could probably guess that looking at his mates off at 5mins lol
Most of them look like they haven't got a clue tbh and shouldn't be out there on what seems a very busy day. Not their fault if its there 1st time and didn't know what to expect, but weekend rush hour is bloody lively at best. I'd also question if all those crashed got hit with mega fines, none of the Armco is totalled and there are bits with scrapes and dents on so they don't change it for every incident!!? Also never heard of compulsory ambulance fees either (not that I'm saying they don't exist) but you are looking at a few hundred quid for recovery. I think the spilt oil / slippery surface also gets a bit of rough justice dude as if someone dumps oil and you bin it, they pay.... And I've never seen / felt low grip out there... The corner in question is a well known viewers spot, clearly for obvious sadistic reasons and the corner is blind, up hill and off camber! Something I'd suggest is the main reason for the wash outs.... The down hill right is also very steep, tricky and quite a handful to negotiate with 911's up your arse if your not used to it... I'd say the majority of these are panic crashes like you see in novice group sighting laps... Bit of target fixation maybe!? Anyway... Here's some pics of when I parked up to erm.... Wish everyone round safely, so you can get an idea of the incline and corners. Downhill section Off camber blind up hill... Don't blame the ring! Blame the riders....
Firstly I think the guys at the ring are fairly reasonable so that wouldnt have been barrier charges but maybe charges for colelcting the bike from the track. It looked as though the guy wasn't going very fast so probably had cold tyres, got a bit excited and just tried to ask too much from the bike without warming up the tyres. I think a bike is kind of like a woman, a bit of foreplay reaps greater rewards for the money shot! Ergo if you don't give your tyres/brakes etc. the chance to warm up before you give it big licks you'll be on your ass!!!
Yes mate I can see what you mean about the camber etc! Maybe I can just follow you round then one time.... Can you see a lot of the track from the side roads then?
There are tonnes of view points mate....could spend a day stopping and looking.... some with hundreds of people taking photo's... this can be quite off putting and a decent warning also as they gather in the more "exciting sections" also good for a bit of showboating if you have the space / balls lol knee down wave normally gets a few flashes! lol
you've got to question taking a rear wheel drive M3 out with snow on the deck and -degree temps!?!? and a bike - asking for it imo....
Snap Jimbo The ring is an amazing place but it's one of the only places on earth where full blown racing drivers are on track at the same time as someone who's never done a trackday before! Mix that with the fact there are cars, bikes, buses etc and with a little oil on the track it's a recipe for disaster! I've been, survived 4 laps of the green hell and an hour on the GP circuit and i'd go back tomorrow on the bike if i could justify it
Don't know why but I've never got any excitement about doing the ring i think its just the whole bike car sharing track thing that i wouldn't feel comfy with. Video was good as Jimbo said lots of panic that corner caught a load out and seems a popular viewing point . Bloke on the big pan pulled his clutch in half way round the corner and had already picked his spot
Until you try it mate - i'm 100% certain it'd blow your mind. does mine anyway. love it. and when it's not sunday carnage, the cars make it quite enjoyable
Me I had a zx10r come past me around the outside of the karoussell as though i was standing still. Definately one for the bucket list
you have to doo it before u die lol .but i did shit me self and when i got home the miss ring got it to but i cant show u that pic she will kill me
Joking mate? The roads round there are great.... It'd be my reg run and stop over at weekends / days off lol with a few laps thrown in if I lived that close.... Wouldn't keep me of it!
don't need to go there for great roads, but the ring, no thanks.... I don't ride on the road anymore, but we'd always go down to the south of belgium around spa frnacorchamps, every bit as good as around the ring
No doubt mate. Not been down there but imagine the roads are great!! Guess ill have to get myself down for a mooch around
