Had an amazing time at Donington today! Great weather and a got my suspension setup. Last lap of my last session, I almost highsided coming out of the melbourne loop and got thrown out the seat a bit. Very lucky to stay on the bike. Also seen quite a few blades today. Anyone on here go? Ill put a few pics up at the weekend.
Mate highsided there on a Gixer thou recently, bust left collar bone, both right fore arm bones snapped = not good. Any idea if you were in 1st or 2nd? I tend to use 2nd for fear of highsiding there!
has to be the most common place for crashes there,i'm very wary coming out of it to the poinbt of losing time, but tend to make it up on the brakes into goddards,or just wait for the straight+redgate. going through macleans+schwantz is also a bad place for highsides, problem with that though is your in 5th and going well over 100mph.....
Glad you had a good day James, I do the Melbourne hair pin in 2nd, less chance of a high side then and still plenty of pull from the blade
Tell you what James no problems there with your knee down you best watch out you will have no knee caps left .
No mine dont wear that quick lol. Trouble Ive got is keeping my boots away from the tarmac. I keep catching them How big a step is it into the inters. Im being held up a lot in novices but the instuctor I had following me last thursday said I wasnt ready yet. Bit confused!
Well looking at your pics you look like you know what your doing, I did 3 track days in novice at oulton before I went in to inters what I learnt from been in novice was learning my lines/brake points and the track and general etiquette of track day riding. The instructors are there to help you so maybe he sees something but I got to the point where I was finding it dangerous been in novice. I now have moved in to fast at oulton only as I was finding it a problem in inters as you do get a lot of riders in inters who don't bother doing novice as they maybe are a quick road rider and think they are to good to go in novice to learn track riding . IMO any way . I was always told try to get out of Inters as quick as you can as the level or riders is so different slow riders who should be in novice and fast lads who should be in fast ,but then wouldn't be as quick in fast. How many times have you done donnington as they say do at least 3 in novice then move up if you are happy to .
Ive got a few things to work on. Instructor said im braking too hard before I tip in. Also ive got the bike leant over for too long. I should start standing it up earlier. I been to donington 3 1/2 days. Im not the fastest in the group but there is a big difference in corner speed and like you said can be dangerous. I got a few clear laps each session so not all bad. Ive got time to learn with mallory and 3 days at jerez coming up! Getting the suspension serviced and setup properly has helped me a lot and made the bike easier to ride.
I hate to use the term 'next year' with so many weeks of this one left but....busy busy now, but with the following the track days get here, I'm pretty sure a thread will pop up for a certain date and it will get snapped up with relish
