How would you go about insuring a 'Parts Bin Bike' ? Explaining that lot over the phone would not be fun I reckon?
Nutty I'm gutted ive just bought mine few weeks ago :'( I didn't think he would sell it. The time has come.
Parts bin bike is a little harsh ....although its a very tasty bit of kit in its own right with hours of obvious hard work it's not an 848 evo when you come to insure it despite what it says on the log book it's not even a 1098R or 1198. I guess its down to what you wish to inform the insurance company about ? It's a very nice bike hope he finds someone to buy it who will love it as much as he obviously has
Log book is says 848 evo its been registered few months ago. Dvla wont register a hand built bike that's never been registered in uk without VOSA check with is very intensive check, balancing weight, sizing up the bike, testing brakes checking engine number frame ect. The vosa inspection check didn't pick on engine as these engines are same. As for insurance purposes its 848evo. Till you open her up. Same as lamchops bike 900rrw moded up to 1000rr hand built bike that's already registered here in uk. And alot more people who have the time to build PART BIN BIKES .
Gorgeous bike but I still think it could be an issue if you had to claim on your insurance and you haven't declared the differences from a 'out of the factory standard bike', which ever way you look at it it's been modified ! But good luck with the sale.
I meant no disrespect Hump to your Dad's mates bike and building skills with my referal to a 'Parts Bin Bike' It's just from previous experience insurance companies hate mega altered vehicles, cars or bikes, if they don't fit in to their Tick Box spread sheet quote machines. It's a Bike you'd need to insure through a specialist broker if you indeed want it to be genuinely insured. Yes anyone could ring up and say it's and 848 EVO with a few bits and get a price but as always you only know the true value or not of the policy when U come to claim. Not trying to Piss on Ya Chips re the sale, just saying like.
