Very minor problems IMO unlike BMW who forget to tighten con rods! However I have gone off the Duc of late what with clouds of smoke from them on start up is not a good look, also the racing results have been a bit of a let down, I do believe that race wins equals bike sales! I think the build up to the release of the 1199 was so big the actual bikes were a bit of a disappointment, stunning looks but not quite the aswome bike it was on paper.

I am with Arthur on this; I loved this bike from the moment I read about it. seen it on line, all the road test reports etc and had more or less decided if it turned out to be a as good as expected I would properly be buying one in Spring 2013. However, having had a good look at one, not test rode one yet as i have been put of by the general build quality as also reported in Si's post. Now I am not so sure about it at all and have parked the whole idea for now to see what happens.

I don't care. I love them. They're like the fun but embarrassing uncle that you can't wait to turn up. (or so my nieces tell me).

I was sat in a traffic jam the other night when I heard this gorgeous noise coming the other way. It was a 1098. Sounded glorious. Then it stopped right beside me and as it went to tickover it instantly sounded like a tractor.

I laughed like a drain. The poor geezer on it must have thought his flies were undone.

No I love the 1098 just gone off the 1199! I still love my 848 big time and the sound is awsome as it revs much harder than the 1198 etc, I have slash cut termis on it and they look and sound the balls! See my problem is a Ducati should be raw, have under seat pipes, trellis frame, be RED, Loud as Italian thunder and go like stink.... I think that's where the 1199 falls down. Ducati say its as pure as a Ducati has always been but owners I know just keep telling me how good it is, how it IS a good bike, but you know I get the feeling it's not me they are trying to convince! I'm not saying the tech is bad on the new bike I just think its something and nothing a bit of a let down after all the hype!

True. I can see where you're coming from. They have to be just a little bit...naughty. I was at the BMAD meet on Wednesday and there were quite a few mean looking Harley's rumbling through the crowds, instantly trumped by a single matt black Diavel that followed them. Trick, yes, not the stripped down detuned racer we know so well but sooooo much style.

I guess I'm an odd ball one of the "others" you know the type that likes a nice 999R....lol

Just read a review in a mag just now there, and the engine went pop with just over 1300 miles on the clock.

Yep I know of a good few! Althea Ducati pulled the plug on them for that reason, a good few have gone bang on track and when you see the smoke when a new one fires up I think Ducati have a lot to learn with short stroke 4s I know they have made big bore 4s for years but the Japs are experts with hi revving four strokes I spend hours with MX four strokes and know how they ware hence why I have my reservations on the over square motors reliability.

Doesn't look good for a bike that costs the best part of £20k. You'd expect a shed load more development time on a bike that costs so much.

Not wrong and 24k for the Ti colour! Termi some bling it's easy to get to 30k! All the Ducatisti are keen for the R model but IMO they want to get this one working first! Bet you don't see many around in 20 years time....lol

Seen 1 of the Tri colour 1199's at the Green Welly (bike friendly service station) on my way to Skye a few weeks ago. Can't quite see what you get for the extra 4 grand. To be honest I think it looks better in just red.

Colour scheme, different ECU, exhaust to match ECU and data logger, also one of a limited edition

I know what your saying Gums, but the cans just a slip on the ECU can be flashed to DP spec and the DDA is nothing more than a USB memory stick... As for LE that's a Ducati speciality no one will know how many equals LE....lol. Like the CBR1000RR LE only 3.2 million made....lol
