Who wears them? I don't personally but I've noticed that most racers do. I like to hear the bike and what's going on around me, but then again I don't wear them on the road either. For you guys that do, do you find it easier to concentrate with less noise? Cheers
i use ear plugs every ride. it doesnt cut out as much noise as you think. for me it cuts out the wind so you can hear the growl of the bike better imo
Best advice you will get this year Tyke is get some and wear them ,Too late for me now I have Tinitus either through construction noise or of course the bike .For me road riding without all you can hear is wind noise and not much engine or exhaust so why put up with this as the damage caused is very severe also note once the damage is done it can't be reversed .
have to say in umpteen yrs of riding i never did, but,i put a cheapo pair in earlier this yr and it does make a big difference, you can still hear the bike etc,but all the background noise gets eliminated so you dont get distracted. those foam things are ok but much better to get a pair you mould in your ear, cost about 10-15 quid off ebay and work well
Earplugs every time. Felt really odd the first time I used them. Started using them on the long trip down the motorway to Dover, then just seemed to use them more and more. Now if I don't put them in the bike sounds like a bag of spanners and I just can't ride it smoothly. I honestly believe I can "get into the zone" when I wear them. Other track riders will understand the zone thingy. You tend to "feel" what the bike's doing rather than just listening to it.
Everytime without fail as firebloke says bike noise puts me off sounds like spanners. Gonna get some of the moulded plugs at this years NEC.
I saw these at last years show and will be getting some at this years. I never ride with them on track i still dont think i will but on road i will as the trip yesterday the wind was so bloody noisy my ears are ringing now.
I find it hard to believe that riding at a maximum of 70mph can leave your ears ringing from windnoise jason...
And allowing for speedo correction factor you were still obeying the limit at that!! I hope this theme of safety first carries to the track mate
honestly try them on track, you'd be suprised what difference it makes. like i said,i've on ly been wearing them this yr,but i cant arf tell the difference if iforget to put them in
On track always on road always. known fact that the noise of riding will damage your ears. not maybe but will! So very worth the small ££ they cost
