Am thinking of selling the car on Ebay never used it for selling just for buying any particular scams I need to be aware of? How do you set a reserve? Is Gumtree free? Any other sites worth considering?
    Thankyou.

Think it costs you to set a reserve mate. No idea how much though.
    You tried Auto Trader ?
There are always the scams about sending you money through Western Union, or sending you a cheque for more money than the car cost and someone will pick up the change when they pick up the car. Usually the cheque is a fake.
I wouldn't sell to anyone who hadn't came to see it either and would think there was something very suspicious if they didn't but still wanted the car.

I have sold via eBay before but didn't like the experience and a lot of time wasters and stupid offers !

Autotrader is more expensive but lots of genuine buyers and every time I've used it I have sold the car within a week or two :)

Only other site I have used is pistonheads but never had a buyer from it tbh

Pistonheads is a big forum/Site but will never be like Autotrader/Ebay

Worth trying in your local rag or putting a few adds up in shops. Nothing like the good old fashioned way to sell a car. try putting a for sale on it close to your house but not outside

Do they still do the Motor Market magazine free at the petrol stations ?
My brother used to buy and sell cars in that all the time years ago.
    Just remembered about it there.

Depends on the car, expensive cars don't do very well on eBay but cheaper ones seem to go very well

eBay is fine but do it as a Classified Ad not an auction.

    Then cash on collection.

As ABV has stated, the classified ad is the best option. It stops all the silly offers etc.

I sold a car on the auction format to guy in Holland, he tried to get me to end it early but I let it go to the end. He was the winning bidder in the end and called me to say he would collect at the weekend....He never turned up! and obviously wouldn't answer his phone!

    Just be careful

Sold my sons car for him on Gumtree.
Phone started ringing 5 minutes after I had listed it.
Car sold to first caller and most importantly no charges for using site.
If you do not want to pay to keep your ad at top of listings, just list it every day and it will start at the top that day.
