Honda CBR 1000 RR FIREBLADE 2009 FIRE DAMAGED TRACKDAY BIKE ONLY NO V5 | eBay annoyingly putting this on here... as i want it but cant afford it. Id have all bits to finish my build and loads left to sell (( I think is a major bargain... perfect if you need few bits and sell the rest, only few drops of melted roof on it So if anyone on here buys to part out let me know and ill want some bits
Why would anyone grind the numbers off?? Only one reason and bike seems changed around from std to maybe hide history?
Why would you grind the frame number off? NO V5 gotta endcan so cant go back on road WTF! beat me to it Paul well sus!
It's a Cat A and so is supposed to be scrap only/never put on the road. By removing the numbers he has effectively stopped it going back on the road. Did sound dodgy at first, but then realised it was probably OK.
Sounds like a nicked bike to me! Very risky advertising it on eBay. I don't understand why you would grind the numbers off.
Fire damage wouldn't cause a cat a.. I thougt Cat a means theres been a fatality involving the veichle so it Should be destroyed
Cat A has to be crushed and no parts to be sold off it doesn't it? It's prob cat A cos of the risk of frame being warped from heat
I had a road bike go on fire and it wasnt Cat A actually. I would never ride one though seeing the damage it does. Frame will be weakened for sure!
I think the tar/ heat isn't the problem, it's the pre history that's wrong !! A good story n grind the numbers off!! It shouldn't be touched, maybe there is a owner like us missing his bike? I see on here people selling frame n logbooks?? That's wrong I think aswell. Remember hearing about a car salvage yard that all the crash damaged cars were stolen then damaged to take people's minds off history/ownership and logbooks.
Dont jump to conclusions; it doesn't say it was a Cat A from the fire damage but the buyer must be confident in what he is buying. Is there a receipt? Is there a documented history of the bike? I would buy it if all correct documentation.
If the numbers were still on the bike it could be traced as what it was.Whatever cat it was it is now a bike with no history. The police will take it if they turn up at a trackday cos the numbers are untraceable. It has to be identify able for them to be sure.I'd not waste my money on that.
+1 ^ If it isn't identifiable you're looking at a possibility of it being taken off you on suspicion of being stolen, unless you have a paper trail of ownership. Plus if it's really a Cat A then a Notice of Destruction should have been issued for it after the whole thing was crushed. Nothing should be used off a Cat A. It could just be an insurance fraud where the original owner has claimed on its destruction by whatever means, provided a dodgy cert of destruction, then concealed the identity of the bike so he doesn't get caught out having sold it on by the insurers. Either way my money would be staying in my pocket.
Haven't read all this but a cat a is usually a molten metal lump usually fire damage where it can't be identified only ever reason numbers ground off of its been stolen recovered and thieves have tried to remove identity this still should be cat b as it can be broke . No one is meant to remove numbers off frames etc now even breakers are told to leave number. And issue a COD . Then authorities can still check that the vehicle isn't stolen etc . Blank new frames also should have a manufacturer invoice receipt if you don't want hassle .
£2,500 grand is cheap for a licence, to nick a bike, grind the numbers off and say it's the bike I bought off eBay 1,2,3 yrs ago and print off some more copies of the receipt for others to say the same, anyone for a paper trail, £100..... Jokes aside, that's what starts off maybe innocent, just gives trouble n drama to others, like frames with logbooks, why are they twice as dear as a new one from a main dealer???
