I always follow what I wish to bid on. If I'm not going to be around I don't bid.
I always have my top price I'm willing to pay. If it reaches that before it's ended then back to the drawing board, and it saved me having to bid in the first place.

Put in your maximum bid, the most you will pay. It should auto bid for you in increments . Ie. If ts 800 now, and your max is 900, it will auto bid 820 etc. if you wait til the death, you will lose out if someone else has auto bid due to the refresh time. Hope this makes sense, but i'm knackered.

This is the dilemma Dave. But what if the other person has bid £906. I often bid with random amounts at the last minute. But I still have my top price I would pay. So if it's gone over it, then back to the search button.

Or use one of these snagger (or summat sounding like that) sites that will place your bids with a few seconds to go....... but as Blaggs said decide what your gonna pay and stick with it.....but too early will expose your interest and will up the bids.....i always go for odd amounts (eg £907.89 ) it does nt guarantee your win but might just edge out a £905 !......and anyhow i would nt be parting with any cash untill i ve seen the vehicle !

If it doesn't end til sunday I wouldn't bid. Wait til about an hour before and have a shufty. Then the last 10 mins or so, make your bid, either by putting in your maximum or bid manually. If you bid manually you will almost certainly get beat by an auto bid in the last few seconds. But, it all depends on how much interest there is in the first place. Most auction items dont really do a lot until the last few minutes. There are people out there who get mates and family to up the bid, and if they happen to win there is no sale for one reason or another. Do not get suckered into bidding more than you are wanting to pay, it's an easy trap to fall into. GOLDEN RULE: DO NOT BID WHILE PISSED. Trust me on that one! Lol

    All good suggestions above...

I usually wait til last 5 minutes, so i see if there is interest in the item or not... If not then I will put in my highest I am willing to pay, and add £1.01 to it...

Remember that if there are 2 exact high bids, the one there first will win.

I just got an item by bidding £101.01, and the other person bidding only bid £100.00 so i won.

Some folks bid, say £99.99... That is silly... That is for sellin, not buying. £99.99 psycologically seems less than £100.00 so sellers use that fact that the buyer will say, wow, less than a hundred! Great I will buy that!!

But an auction works the other way... You have to WIN the bid. Always go £1.01 over your maximum, in case anyone else goes to the same maximum you had in mind, you will win cuz your bid was more!! That's what I do, anyway...

And defo agree with not bidding while drunk... BAD IDEA!!!
