hi to everyone, i am new to this forum and looking for some answers, and making new friends. i have recently purchased 1000rr6 -07 plate, i`ll cut the story short: while riding it the red light came on, no specific rev range, turned bike str8 off, then on and carried on, later realised the fi cames on with it. i browsed forums and got egcv, checked it and one cable was stuck. i thought i had it figuered out, but i checked the servo according to haynes and it is fine, i also erased the ecm from stored codes.i fitted a new servo just in case, but neither of them turn when revving the engine, they do turn to their original position just after turning the ignition on. now my question is : what rev range should the servo operate within, and why is the mil not coming on when the servo is not operating? it is very important to me as i bought the bike on ebay and will send it back if it is not sorted.please please respond.
I cant answer your questions (sorry) but I do know that when replacing the servo you have to perform a certain procedure to make sure it is initialised in the correct orientation... basically you have to bridge a couple of wires somewhere when you first turn the ignition on (according to my Haynes manual, anyway). Are you sure this procedure was followed correctly?
did you check the valve opens and closes properly and isnt ceased? also having the cables the arong way round can give you the fault light too.
thanks 4 quick reply, yes i did bridge the green and brown wire pior to installing it and the valve is not stuck, cables not connected yet, the bike seems to run normally , i know some people have reported bad running when having servo probs. could someone maybe have a look on their bikes when the servo moves-approx what revs, wld be much appreciated. servo is connected no mil light any more but it doesn`t move at revs
Well, according to a few articles I've found, the valve is designed to allow the bike to pass noise regs, which are measured at 5600rpm... the valve therefore opens at just before 6000rpm. Honda CBR 1000RR - Exhaust Gas Control Valve (EGCV)
ah you havent connected the cables to the new servo yet, could be wrong here but I think you need to connect it turn on the ignition to let it center itself then you can disconnect it.
hi, i slept over it and think they actually need to be connected, and the way i see it the spring in the valve must pull or push on the servo and some how activate it, or it must be in gear to turn. i have to say it is a bit strange as i also have the 93 fzr 1000 ru with exup, and that servo operates even with cables disconnected, but anyway, can anyone tell me how(which way round) to connect the cables to the valve. it is abit tricky now as cables and servo are new.thanks tom
Phantom is the man to talk to about manuals, he sent me some when I was struggling putting my RR5 back together he may have some to help you also
