After a lot of deliberation, I have finally decided to do a 5 day trip to Eifel Germany, assuming it takes half a day to get to and from the area, that then leaves me 3 full days to explore. My questions are should I pick a hotel in 1 town for 3 nights and ride out everyday (without luggage) If I choose this option, any suggestions as to where (town/village) to stay Or Is the area big enough to stay in a different town/village each night for the 3 nights? Also on the final day the intention would be to leave early and ride into the Ardennes in Belgium for the day, then blast to Calais for late shuttle home.
Don't think you will regret it! It's exactly what I'd do with the time. Look on YouTube at the mcn guide to the ring, neeves does a decent route right through there you can adopt. Tough one, I like to move on but there are some class roads round there. The ring isn't far and great place to base as plenty to see, great atmosphere and loads of brilliant biker friendly places. Cochem is also lovely on the river... Stunning town and roads surrounding superb... And you could do a day down and back to Black Forest via b48 which is also great. Either way, can't go wrong in that are mate. It's stunning for bikes My personal choice (everyone different) would be : Day 1 - scenic route to ring Day 2 - local ride out and few laps Day 3 - ride to Black Forest via b48 then do as much of b500 you fancy in a day Day 4 - back to ring - couple laps if time Day 5 - couple laps and head home as day 1 Even if you don't want to do the ring, still a great place to base yourself
Have to agree, The Ring is a good place to base. Great roads around, it makes sense to have a base with so much to do in the area. Depends how much you want to spend but the Dorint Hotel Nurberg has views of the GP bit of the Ring. You can get some deals on booking.com if you book early (great Breakfast) Don't forget to have a session on the GP track too. Worms is a good day out.
Not too sure you,ll get to the area in half a day but prove me wrong.......when I did it I was forever stopping for fuel as at the time it was unclear which petrol stations would still be open ,even still a petrol station! . If you have the time and you can plan your fuel stops I,d defo go the senic route as the motorways are boring mile munchers . Oh and just remember not all filling stations are manned , auto fill machines have a mind of there own and will spit your trusty card out and deliver no go go juice ,fine if you,ve got some mates with Euros , seems even the machines hate us UK bikers lol
Its a great area, Try and get to see this under construction before it opens next year (if finished on time) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hochmosel_Bridge Another historical site to visit - this features in Call of Duty. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ludendorff_Bridge
Something else for a bit of 'off bike time' is to take the cable car up from the Rhine to the huge Germania Monument http://www.ruedesheim.de/en/discover-ruedesheim/cable-car/
This is the internery Day 1..Eurotunnel early arrival in Calais. Explore some of The Ardennes and overnight stop in Spa Day ..2/3..Staying just outside Cochem will then give us 2 full days in the area. (B48) Day..4 Baden Baden and the Back Forest ( B500) overnight stop Day.5. Late Eurotunnel home.
Me and three friends are doing the same on the way to Assen Motogp. We're doing. Day One Gent Day Two The Ring Day three Stuttgart, Porsche Museum Day Four Baden Baden, B500 Day Five Cologne Day Six & Seven Assen Day Eight Home Can't wait, lots to do to the bike before.
