Hello folks, not been hear for ages
After a 3 year lay off I have started trying to get the blade back on the road
The bike stood outside under a cover for 3 years initially being started and ran every few weeks but has not been started in 18mnths.
A new battery has been fitted and the fuel tank has been cleaned and emptied and new fuel put in.
The bike has Power Commander 5 and HM+ Quickshifter.
The bike initially fired up pretty much straight away but I noticed that the display on the shifter was blank intermitently, when this was the case the fuel pump would not pressurize and that bike would turn over but not fire. A quick jiggle of the shifter diplay and wires cured this and she fired up.
After running for a few minutes the bike cut out and wouldn't restart the shifter display was blank and fuel pump wouldn't start up.
So now the display is blank and the fuel pump wont start up on turning the key but everything on the dash is normal.
Twice the shifter and fuel pump breifly kicked in on hitting the start button but now nothing. All dash lights and engine turn over are normal.
I have traced the shifter wires and earth and all seem ok and have checked where the shifter plugs into the connector under the front of the air box and this connector is ok but I cant get a voltage reading from its male electrodes on the bikes side of the plug.
So to me it seems that there is no feed to the shifter from the coils but I'm not sure why this affects the fuel pump.
Any Ideas or help would be most welcome.......its driving me nuts!!.

Could be a corroded kill switch. Try squirting some WD40 down the kill switch and flicking it up and down a few times.

Also check for corroded / stuck / buggered side stand switch cut out.
Start with obvious before ripping a shifter apart
    Good luck
