My Blade is standard... I think it sounds awesome as it is but know I will end up with a different system... I'm not really looking for extra performance (I think it has plenty as it is) but I prefer the look of aftermarket cans. I know increased airflow etc needs to be set up correctly with a PC or similar but will just an end can make much difference to airflow in comparison to the original pipe? I notice that Honda offer a factory upgrade to an Akro can... Is this just an end can? Does anyone know if it still has the power valve? Any advice most appreciated =)
Your dead right IMO any changes to airflow require remaps, guess your question is how much? If so then most cans effect throttle response enough to notice, however depends on the rider as some never seem to pic up on the flat spots like me. IMO a PC can refine a stock bike as they have to conform to euro3 emission laws, those laws are what create fueling issues as what the motor needs is not what it gets..
So basically a PC is going to be a top mod on a stock bike? I was wondering though if you chose the Akro can option on a new blade would they set the bike up for that or doe's it have the same spec as the stock can but lighter with better looks?
I have to pic my words carefully as I know riders who have blades and don't like the closed to open throttle response I also know that the blade suffers with this issue even at top level BSB I'm told thats one of the reasons why Lowes crashed a while back and seems that it's still not perfect/resolved. HOWEVER I know hundreds of people who would say its perfect from out the box! Confusing hay, well that's where it all comes down to the rider some are more ham fisted than others and others like to fine feather the throttle mid corner etc etc, my comment is based on a bike that's looked at AFR wise. As I say IMO you can refine what's there from stock. As for exhausts well I think all manufactures will say they can be run without correction or they would never sell any systems! Tbh from a will it do any harm point of view the answer would be no, will you feel any difference in throttle response etc that's another matter and is like I say very much down to the individual. Dont help much do it...lol
Mine has an Ackro system (cat back) and I have to say it doesn't like poodling around especially 3-4k revs.Other than that it is fast enough for me, it passes the lads with their quickshifters, PC's, full race systems and k+n's.So I'm happy
All I'd say for those who have not had the AFR setup is the question you prob ask is, could I have more?, could it be better?, what's it actually running like?, it's those questions only the dyno can answer.
Can a dyno operator get it wrong? I've not looked at the AFR on mine cos the bike from 4k onwards behaves as it should, but then again I bought mine with the Ackro on it from new so cannot compare.Maybe I need to get on another 10 11 plate bike with a PC on it to compare.
Surely any extra air flow would cause the motor to run weak therefore potentially causing some serious internal piston damage?
I have had many bikes with no PC.bazzaz to adjust the settings on the ECU on bikes with no issues. Many say they can be used without the need for any mods and I found this works fine, But I would rather get a PC/Bazzaz unit to make sure it's set up 100% and why I did for my Yoshi. I intend to get a Austin racing can for the road in the winter and will run that with the settings I have for my yoshi can. And cannot foresee any issues
Theoretically yes, but the question is how much extra air flow has been introduced and how rich was the fuelling in the first place.
I'm running a PCV on stock Blade, only change really is a BMC filter. The fuelling is pretty good anyway but had a PCV hanging around (from my previous CB100r) so fitted it anyway. Currently running the generic stock map from Dynojet. The throttle is now noticeably smoother and pickup from lower revs a little stronger. Most noticeably is engine braking just feels 'phat' if that makes sense! On the same journey I am getting about 10miles extra to the tank, bonus! Will also fit my Autotune (also from my last bike) . I do have plans to change the can at some point but at least I know I have all the bits in place to ensure the fuelling will be spot on!
