Whats the best oil for the bike (2010) that isn't mega pricey?? I know nothing about oil grades. Also what is the least ammount of fairing removal that can be done during an oil change? Do I need front and rear paddock stand?

    Cheers

I use 10w/30 semi Castrol now... have been for the last 3 change from Halfords, £30. I drop the oil every 1,500-2k miles, renew the filter every 3k-4k miles.

As for fairings, i don't need to remove any as the new bellypan has a wider aperture at the bottom. I just undo the oil bolt, drain and put new oil in. I have to loosen the side fairings to renew the oil filter, but i still don`t need to remove them.

    Rear paddock stand too mate.

remember to warm the engine first to help the oil drain ( it will be thinner when warm).

    Dead easy.

Refill the bike without the paddock stand fitted, and allow more oil if you change the filter.
Start bike, then switch off and leave for 10 minutes and top up as necessary, using the gauge on the dip stick NOT screwed in.

    What's up?

Would require no fairing -or sump bolt removal at all?

Hi Si I just put some Silkolene pro4 10/30 Energy in mine and it feels a lot better than Castrol it now has better gear change and is smoother running! This oil has low drag so better mpg and performance normally I wouldn't believe the hype but the proof is in the pudding! 4 ltrs cost me £48 I think it worth every penny! Less wear means it'll perform better for longer! I just like lookin after me internals coz work on engine, gearbox & clutch aint cheap :D
