2010 Fireblade. Properly maintained. Engine oil changed every 4K. 21,000 miles in total Bike developed an intermittent vibration that I had initially assumed was something loose but it has got progressively worse in the last 100 miles or so. The vibration seems to be most noticeable between 3-4RPM. The bike is now shed bound until I get to the bottom of the problem. Pulling in the clutch seems to stop it momentarily but I don't believe it is clutch related The bike has had a pretty easy life. It hasn't been gunned or used for track days. I'm pretty certain there is nothing wrong with the crank, pistons, valve train. The engine still develops good power. No excesssive engine smoke. No rattles or knocks that would indicate more serious problems I suspect that the issue is cam chain related. Is there an issue with the automatic cam chain adjustment not working correctly?
Does it go away when you put slight weight on the clutch? The clutch lifter bearing got a little worn on mine and it did that. Replacing it helped but probably wasn't worth doing, it wasn't doing any harm.
I'm 100% certain this is not clutch related. I've been doing some digging around on the internet and I'm quite certain that the issue is related to the automatic cam chain tensioner not working
Automatic camchain tensioners in general are crap. Normally more of a noise than vibration. Quite a few aftermarket manual options are all pretty much the same. Is it worse after a hot start?
I guess, you do know that the exhaust valve opens at eround 4k and depending on the installation, it can generate resonance/ vibration in the frame
My previous 2011 blade had similar issue, I replaced the CCT with a manual CCT problem solved..... I hope yours has the same issue as it's an easy/cheap fix.
