Having had my bike dyno ed at the week end noticed a whine from the engine when using it while slowing down it starts at 3000rpm until it goes down to 2000rpm is this normal I can't remember hearing this before? It has used a ltr of oil in the last 1000 miles to I know alot of post say this but it can't be right on a bike with 2000 on the clock. Its an 2011 model and I was told they sorted the oil issues on this model.

as for the oil burning issue i dont believe it has been fixed, even some 2012 models burn oil i think, its just luck if you get a good one or not. i have a 2008 that hardly burns a drop but sadly your not the first with a 2011 oil burner

I also have the whine on my bike when slowing down and its been there since i bought it 2 years ago, never had any issues but i havent got a clue what causes it, might be worth asking arthur as im sure he will be able to help you out with a better answer, there has been several recalls on the blades so if your worried pm mr.b your vin number and he will be able to run a check for you

What I am worried about is the fact it has been used with low oil and could this be related to the whine noise. Having had the bike from new I know now I need to check the oil more often. Has yours been used with low oil?

i bought mine 2nd hand but it has never been ran with low oil since i have owned it, i have heard a few other people talking about this before and it does sound as if there is not enough oil somewhere when it makes the noise but like i said mine has been like it for the past 2 years and i have not had any issues

    What a silly question :D

mr b can run a check for outstanding recalls that your bike might need. there was a clutch recal but not sure if your bike would be effected

Hard to diag from the description, does the whine only happen under engine braking, in all gears, with the clutch in, out, etc.. can you get vid of the problem? Could be cam chain, drive chain, pads dragging many things spring to mind, can you get an idea to what side of engine, post up some more info.. :) Also the oil usage is normal, Honda never fixed any problems and never gave any explanation to why some burn and some don't I know some that were run in soft that burn and some that don't others that were run in hard that burn and some that don't, to my knowledge there is no pattern to the rr8 on oil problems and it seems to pick on any bike regardless of use, run in, etc etc, not much help I know but that's the big question with the current generation motors. If you wanted to make a pukka motor IMO you would need to strip it have a pukka plating done on the bores run some nice pistons and rings, flow the heads and cases chuck in some peaky cams, sort the crank and rods and your on the road...lol now what's the winning loto numbers?
