sept 25th MAG are organising protest rides accross the country, check facebook for more details but basically its about the eu proposal to ban home servicng any form of modification, hi viz compulsory and a team of govt agents carrying out emission test at road side
I'll be fighting in my own way but whatever happens I will do what I want with my bike. Unless they change the law on chavv Corsa with huge wheels, mega stereo etc I will not be stopped modding my bike. And they won't due to the money it makes company's
We should adopt a "Top Trumps" system to EU legislation. If they say we're not allowed to mod our bikes, we can trump it with they can't allow Polish lorry drivers into Britain unless they stay f*****g awake. If they want us to wear yellow wealth & hasty bibs then they can't let Polish lorry drivers into Britain unless they stay f*****g sober. If they want to restrict our bikes then they can't allow Polish lorry drivers into Britain who don't have a f*****g driving licence. I might be fixating there... But, and I know I've banged on about this before, we're always trying to apease some bugger in Europe or the middle east or across the pond, very few of whom seem capable of squaring their own shit away, let alone organising ours. We ride motorcycles because we want to feel a bit different to the herd. We pay for that privilege in exposing ourselves as vulnerable road users. We, in the majority, toe the line of the law both on the road and in the workshop and the system works. You see very few ratty bikes on UK roads, and the quality of some of the mods found within these pages makes me emotional with pride, on occasion. Compare that with the shocking condition of many of the mopeds and scooters you see wazzing around the roads, and even the pavements of France, Greece and Spain with no intervention from authority. We're doing okay on our own. F**k off Brussels Now I'm going to go and finish cleaning the bathroom before Mrs Ken comes home and tears me a new one.
Motorcycle Action Group Protest details: Motorcycle Action Group Details of your local meeting point are here: of 25th September 2011 Action Now - EU Hands Off Biking - Google Maps The plan is: On the 25th September you can make your voice heard. Starting from service areas across the country, we all ride at 1pm, 45mph, using the inside lanes and disperse 20 minutes later. Negotiations are ongoing and as citizens we must be considered. This is the first time. Let's show what we could be capable of. I'm going to join the group at the M3 Fleet Services Northbound. All sounds quite reasonable & stress free, and we should all be home in time for tea & medals. Vino
Pontabraham Services for me at the very end of the M4. Iv put the word out and it looks to be a rather large turn out
Got an email from MAG over the weekend, looks like this is going to be mega - so much so, that the traffic police have made a few courteous requests (like if 1 bike breaks down, don't all stop etc.). I'm quite excited - shame it'll only be for 20 minutes. M3 East bound from the Fleet Services for me.
I could almost guarantee it will be grim, it always seems to be when i've got plans to get out on the bike!
