Hi guys, I live and work in London where next year from 8 April there will be a new ULEZ congestion charge zone affecting all vehicles, including motorbikes. The charge to enter the zone will be £12.50/day equiv. to £3k/yr for regular commuters like myself unless you meet the Euro 6 compliant exhaust emissions standard. Without going into a whole back story of what has happened, the law is coming in despite outcry from from bikers. So really it's "adapt or pay the consequences". I've emailed Black Widow and they have said that they do not have a compliant system. So my question is whether you guys are aware of any solutions from other manufacturers? Unless I’m reading the info on the link wrong (always a possibility) motorcycles only need to meet Euro 3. The Euro 6 only applies to diesel vehicles and I’m assuming your bike is petrol
I've had a similar comment on the Fireblade Owners FB page, but it says Euro 3 are liable to the £12.50/day charge. If you search for "Euro 3" you'll see it, about half way down the page.
No need for Euro 6, go check your bike out and see if it will get the charge or not rather than fretting about it https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emission-zone/vrm-checker-ulez
This is yet another reason I am hesitant to take the position in London. The £ may be stronger than the $ but they let us hold on to more of ours.
Aha! Thanks! Shows that I don't need to do anything. Saved me a few hundred quid you did there mate! .. Feel like I should make a donation of some kind, you got a local charity I can make a donation to mate?
I dont think you can simply slap a "Euro 6 exhaust" on? ...the check is made on the bike itself at the time of registration, no? EDIT: scrap that, I just read that vehicle checker page and you can made the necessary adjustments to vehicles. I stand corrected (albeit by myself)
Luckily in yorkshire we have just got electric so hope it might be some time before we get euro emission regulations
