    Hi Guys,
My 2010 Blade seems to be using a lot of oil.
I am having to put a Litre of oil in it every 80-90 miles. Which equates to a litre every day seen as I do an 82 mile round trip to work and back.
I spoke to Honda who have told me that this is within reasonable tolerances, but I am very dubious over this.
I am using Castrol Power 1 Racing 10W30 and as you all know this is rather expensive, but it is supposed to burn at a higher temp thus not using as much.
Can anyone shed some light on this as my oil bill is starting to increase to beyond a joke.

    Thanks

If you had said 1 litre per 800-900 miles then thats just about on hondas "reasonable usage" idea. but 80-90 is totally stupid. can you see where your going for all the smoke that will be coming out the exhaust

1 litre every 80-90???? Is that right? If so I would be very worried 800-900 the that's about right? Done 1330 on my 2010 and it's not used a drop of oil!

GET onto Honda again and moan like feck!

Something seriously wrong there. If it was a 2-stroke, you wouldn't be using that much!

My 2008 does a litre to every 1,000-1,200 miles, which is apparently normal. I'd phone another dealer.

So, everytime you fill the petrol tank you have to put a litre of oil in as well???

I agree that honda usually say that a litre of oil for 1000 miles is their acceptable usage and that seesm high to many people, much less every 90 miles?!?!?!?!?!

That is pretty much the case that I am putting oil in everytime that I fill up the tank.
And yes you did read right it is every 80-90 miles im putting a litre of oil in it.
I have noticed that when I am on the homeward bound part of my work commute that my bike gets a nasty burning smell coming from it.
I have spoke to 2 different dealers and they have both advised that this is within normal operating parameteres for the 2008-2012 Blade.
I'm at a loss as what to do as it has only done just over 8000 miles and I don't want my engine to break due to Hondas inability to act on what is clearly a major problem.

That is definitely NOT the acceptable usage I have read about...

1 litre every 1,000 Miles is supposed to be the acceptable usage.

You sure you don't have a leak? I'm sure you would see a trail of smoke in your mirrors at that amount!

Anyone have any Honda documents that state the 1 litre per 1,000 miles to give to Merlin so he can put a case forward to the dealers?

1ltr of oil per 1000 miles is the point at which Honda will start to take notice with your oil problem, had this confirmed by a Honda dealer today.....

To burn that much like others have said there is a serious issue there. There must be some evidence of the oil burning at that rate at which the dealer can identify to help raise the issue with Honda tech. I would call Honda UK customer services and explain the issue 01753 590510 if your local dealer aren't willing to help. It's far from acceptable.

My best guess is you have either spoken to a guy who was recently hit over the head and is not thinking straight or the guy is hard of hearing and thought you said 800-900 miles (which by the way i still think is daft, but thats another story).

Your bike is seriously fuc***. It needs looking at by an indy mechanic and a report sending to Honda HQ..... How the hell are you able to afford to run the thing ?

I had my rings replaced on my last Blade by Honda under warantee (2010) because it used 700ml in 700 miles.
As said previously, 1l/90 miles is a joke and not acceptable (neither is 1l / 1000 miles).
I confirm the Honda "acceptable" level in 1l/1000 miles.
GET IT BACK TO THE DEALER.

I spoke with Honda UK who confirmed all of the above with regards to the usage and the 1lt / 1000 Miles.
The guy at Honda was shocked that the local dealers refused to look into it and will be sending a circular to all Honda dealers re-itterating the fact over oil usage.

They have instructed the Honda Dealer in Grimsby to take my bike and strip the engine to ascertain why it is using such a high amount of oil.

They have also assured me that if a fault is found I will be getting a new engine fitted as it could have caused internal engine damage.

All in all a win win situation, thanks for all the advice guys.
