    Hi Guys

Im looking to remove the servo motor for the exhaust, I have one of those servo buddy connectors that mimic it to stop the MIL light coming on.
I can see that its pretty easy to remove on the non abs bike, just one bolt and it lifts right out after disconnecting it from the loom.

Im assuming its a different removal process due to the abs gubbins and the location of the servo is a bit different.

Anyone done this on an abs bike that could advise the best way to remove?

    Cheers

    D

Just un hook the cable from the servo arm put it back in correct position before switching on to avoid the warning light.

No need for messing to deep when not required.

I tried this but the light came back on eventually, it kind of flickered on and off and it was really annoying! so had to hook the cable back up....

Dougie, with the cable hooked up make a mark on the servo wheel in it's resting position with the ignition off and a corresponding mark just above it, so as to indicate where the wheel should be at rest.

Then turn wheel clockwise so the cable loosens then unhook and clip out of the way.

Turn wheel back to the exact position via the marks and all will be well.

So I have just tried what you suggested mate - the thing is that after the ignition is turned on, the wheel actually rotates past this mark as the cable is no longer in place to prevent it from rotating further? Is that what is supposed to happen? Ive got this servo buddy thing but it looks like such a faf to remove the servo from under the abs servos....dunno what to do now really....I mean the MIL light stays off but eventually it comes back on as a flicker...

Try turning it a few degrees clockwise and running it again.

If not try a few degrees anti clockwise and try again.

You've obviously knocked the wheel off centre (so to speak) on your initial efforts so a little trial and error should resolve it.

There's nothing else it could be.

From my recollection, I think the wheel resets itself on 08+ models, unlike previous model which has to be turned back manually

Did the exhaust valve mod on my 12 abs bike a couple of weeks ago,no probs at all, turned the wheel back to it's original position after removing the cable,no lights coming on.I think the wheel has to go back about 180 degrees or so.I put the cover back on before starting up so can't say what the wheel did on start up.

So I marked exact default position of the wheel with a swiss army knife, making a groove, un hooked the cable and put it back exactly were it was. The wheel now rotates back to that position on start up and the light has gone out!! woohoo!
Is there anything a swiss army cant fix lol!

Hopfuly thats the last ill see of that fecking light!

    Thanks guys

Hi just wondering if you fitted servo buddy in the end, I'm thinking of fitting one to my abs blade, but can not find any information how easy it is to fit, on standard blade it is well easy . Thanks BRI

Hi mate I didn't bother in the end as there isn't much point. It doesn't save much weight and it would make no difference to the bike that I would notice. Taking the stock exhaust off saved loads of weight then ill change the wheels so no need to save anymore weight really.
