Had my neighbour come up to me and tell me to watch out with the new bike - his exhaust system was removed during the night and he was concerned my Akro system would be next on their shopping list!!! :( I'm quite worried... what alarm systems are there out there that you'd recommend?

Can't stop looking out the window now!! :(

I would recommend using a meta alarm as have had in the past and can be left for weeks at a time and had no problems starting after, personally I would avoid data tool as most of my mates who have had them had no end of problems

Matt... I have bike parking envy. Mine's on the garden path... The other half has drawn the line there!!! I've looked into tracking devices - they're just too expensive!!! I hate thieves :(

I know the feeling, i threatened to move out with my bike if it wasn't allowed indoors and i would have gone too. My last bike was stolen and i will do everything possible to stop this one from going, you need to put your foot down....

Agreed on the trackers, ive had a good look at them and at some point will get one fitted but they could drop this price some to create more business....

I love this picture and show it to the other half every now and then;)

You have to find somewhere better than a garden path even with an alarm its easy pickings .Have you not got friends or close family within range with a little bit of garage space or can you get a rear shed which you could alarm up .

The guys are right, but you seem to be in a similar problem to me.
No where for a garage and no way of bringing it in permanently. My solution is by no means perfect but so far Im really happy.
I bought one of these bike barns (cover) and as its framed never touches the bike, which is great for your paint and nasty wet mornings.
My bike is locked up inside (ground lock going into the floor soon too) I then bought a PIR movement alarm (for sheds) then cable tied to the bars inside.
If anyone thieving scumbag opens he cover the alarm shrieks its head off. I know they'll find it and smash it if necessary but not before Im out there with my smiley face!

Getting a Datatool system 4 thatcham cat 1 fitted this weekend... at a toe curling cost of £300. Ouch. That's a bit more expensive than the doorbell I found wired up with a loose connection in my 1989 GPX!!!

A road angel Bike trac would have cost you less than that. Only costs £250 fitted that also includes your first year subscription then it's £99 a year after that and you can set an invisible fence around your bike anything breaches the fence line and you will get a text, e-mail and a phone call from the lovely people at Road Angel all at the exact time. Believe me it works the amount of times I've gone to wheel my bike out of the garage and received a phone call straight away lol.

If you can I would spend the money on the road angel or a decent set of chains as everybody ignores alarms these days and thieves hate noise and time so to make sure they are cost a lot of both should they attempt to take your pride and joy..

I'm at £267 fully comp (inc pillion) with 4yrs no claims bonus and one accident lingering over my head for a bike I wrote off 2 years ago... not too bad for a 26yr old chick on a Fireblade :D

WTF? Who are you insured with? I got 3 years protect NCB no accidents, no points and my policy on the BM was 1100 alans! According to MCE it's because I've bought a brand new bike and I can expect the premium to drop next year probably along with my pants as they bend me over for a second time....

I'm with MCE too - it would have been £1500 without the no claims bonus... but don't forget my bike is 2003... it's not exactly new!

Glad to hear they gave you a good deal I'll be on their case about mine next year let that be a lesson to people don't buy a new bike unless you're over 40 lol...
