Guys, I apologise profusely in advance as I've kind of already asked this question but I'm really struggling to find an answer even using the search bar on here and Google. I have a 2012/60 Fireblade and want to get an exhaust for it, just a can for now, maybe a link pipe as some of them come with it, I understand that on my year bike this will de-cat the exhaust as the cat is in the back box. Will I need to run a Power Commander straight away or will it run fine without one? Anything I should be aware of? The exhaust I am looking at will be either a Yoshimura R77 or an Akrapovic. If it's just an end can/slip on. Then it'll be fine on standard mapping. If you start removing cat's etc and fit a full system then yeah you'll need to as you're changing the air and fueling ratios. Hope this helps.
Both will be fine without pcv If you get Akra either slip on or full system I have custom maps from my 2013 you can have to try out just send me a PM

Absolutely! Removing the stock exhaust the Cat goes out as well. It is inside. I applied the Vance Hines can in mine keeping the lambda sensor. I my case i had to make a hole to screw it. Then, as recommended by my dealer, i reprogrammed the stock unit easily at home... It works great since there (20.000Km).
I think the cat is inside the silencer in all 2008>. In addition there are: ECV - valve activated by cable and pulley EGBV- valve spring loaded and activated by exhaust pressure O2 sensor I know a lot of people disregard the first two as a way to pass the noise regulation. I disagree; they also control and regulate the exhaust gas back pressure and the flow thereby affecting the power delivery of the engine. Why do you want to change the standard silencer? rust? noise? Or weight ? or ?? I looked into this myself as my original silencer was getting very rusty (replaced under warranty- eventually) and found the best option was an akro which had ECV built in and mounting for the O2 sensor and saved a lot of weight. Not sure if it still had the cat in it. I think this one would have given me almost if not the same engine power and torque delivery as stock
