As of 3.30 this afternoon, no update on his condition. I wondered if Sky F1 were not showing the re-run because of the worst type of news (out of respect) but the Beeb ran it again and at the end they said that he had undergone surgery for a severe head injury, which inistself does not bode well. Get well soon fella.
Just finished watching the race and heard he's undergone brain surgery Thoughts with him, just hope he pulls through and is ok at the and of it Horrid accident

I don't want to blame the track here, but having a big solid tractor at the side of the very track where one car has already slid off is CRAZY MADNESS, what were they thonking bringing that damn thing out so Early???
I thought that too buddy.... But then if they hadn't he might of hit the other car and killed himself or another driver? Then we'd all be saying why didn't they get the car recovered quicker? If anything they should of red flagged it IMO considering the conditions.... Terrible accident and hope the fella makes a recovery, but looks a bad one unfortunately
Totally agree the conditions were that bad it was only a matter of time before somebody else went off at that notorious part of the circuit. Fingers crossed he makes the best part of a full recovery.
People are talking about safety and this was a freak accident. I was watching it and it was at a time of "do we go for full wets or inters" only a few went to full wets. the weather was changing and I don't think they would do much about it but the video I have seen I am amazed he is even alive after that crash Fingers crossed he pull's through.
It's simple for me, the race should have been red flagged (or at least safety car) before tractors/fork lists/telearms or what ever are taken onto track. The race organisers are to blame 100% bad decision. I mean a tractor on track mid race, CRAZY.
I'm not totally sure... the new video shows that immediately after the crash, that area of the track was under "double waved yellows"... which mean something along the lines of "slow the fuck down, put the racing on the back-burner for a couple of corners". The video then shows that once Sutil's car was all harnessed up, the green flags were being raised... which means danger over! So as Bianchi approached he would have been getting the green light to start pushing again. What SHOULD have happened, is that the yellows or double-yellows continued to be shown until the tractor was safely back behind the barriers.
Agree, whatever the decisions it's down to the race direction to be SURE the drivers know something is going on, if weather or visibility is an issue with flags etc then a decision should have been made early on.. What a thing to happen nasty crash!
Agree something needs to be done but if they red flag it for every off the race will not finish in the 2 hours or everyone will be board with having almost every race red flagged
Yep, red flags are not the answer... the drivers are supposedly mature enough to heed the yellow flag warnings. Essentially, someone decided that Sutil's crashed car was enough of a hazard to warrant yellow/double-yellow flags... but that a f-ing enormous tractor with an F1 car hanging from it, was NOT a hazard and therefore racing could recommence!!!! Anyway, it's all academic now... I'm sure the motor racing powers will learn from it. Get well soon Jules.
Mines a bit of a knee jerk reaction but man, wtf it's it with un protected heavy plant on track, zillions of pounds on track safety and they overlook the very equipment that removes cars from the track?
maybe some form of safety stuff on the removal trucks or it has been said about having some form of limiter for speed by yellow flags. it could be automatic or something the drivers must follow or face a drive through etc....
That impact was massive ,as was Bianci's speed. I understand what has been said, but other drivers didn't have accidents at that spot, so Bianci shares some of the blame. I know a big lump of steel is a dangerous thing to hit, but the other car needed to be moved ASAP. Perhaps they should have put a temporary barrier in the way before bringing that tractor on. I don't think Suzuka organisers are totally to blame, the drivers and teams also bear some responsibility. INCOMING !!!
