How do you all go about removing the fairings when you've got crash bungs? On my R6 I just used to remove one side, take the bolt out of the bung and put it back in the bike and then repeat with the other side.

Pretty much the same way mate, but I sometimes end up taking both the bung bolts out n leave em out till its time to rebuild the fairings depends on how I feel at the time, there are usually at least 3 other engine mounting points so very little chance the engine is going to move or anything like that.:)

I've found you can damage the front engine mount threads by removing both bolts fully which you shouldn't have to do to take the fairings off.
I'm having work done to put new threads into my engine where the crash bungs go. Expensive job but I want my bike to be right.

    +1 on that

When I removed both bolts the engine did drop about 1mm .... enough for the bolts to be out of line .

Solution was to jack the engine up a tad

    Wot yr was ur R6??

I had a 2007 model n it was possible, even with my numpty skills, to remove the complete fairing without the need to remove the bungs?!

Not tried removing fairings bar the lower part on the blade yet.

How's that going for you? Did you have to have engine fully removed, and who are you trusting with the work? I hope it wont be too expensive for you.

Hello morph, I don't need the work done thanks, this was on old blade of mine and the threads never stripped..... Was just always a big fear of mine as they never seemed to thread particularly smoothly. For this reason I haven't put bungs on my current blade. I bought spare plastics instead!

I'm just outside brighton so only a few miles from you. Have to meet for a rideout when weather improves.
