just a heads up for the mods, we have been trying to keep a eye on the BIKES for sale section and notice many people joining adding their bike then not really doing much to help the forum grown,. Just sell their bike now if your happy with people joining only to sell their bike then please tell us but if you do not want the forum just to be used. The please use the report on their post, There is a announcement for all to read before they post but seems people are unable to read this and ignore it. So just a heads up to report people just using the forum. Only my view but why should others benefit more than active helpful members who wish to sell their bike after helping others on here Any views
Remal I don't know how all this stuff works so tell me if its not possible, when you first join you can not send PM's now can Rob put the same sort of limit on the sale section? 20 or 50 posts first.
I don't think that people populating the for-sale section is a bad thing: the more bikes for sale, the more useful a feature it becomes. I for one started browsing as a non-blade-owning non-member and found it useful to browse bikes and bits for sale, plus when I see a bike and I know a mate is looking then I forward the link. The for sale section attracts new users, attracts traffic which in turn raises the google ranking, raising the profile of the site which in turn attracts new users. The bigger the site profile becomes, the more impact the ABS thread will have on Honda (maybe!) etc... etc... In short: I think we gain from leaving a couple of sections like that for new users, even if they contribute nothing else.
Knock it in the head now as every EBay jockey will fill the server in a matter of months .If you want to buy a bike you know where to look.
I totally agree with what Martin has said and I'm a fairly new user to the forum! Have a minimum amount of posts before they can sell something!
http://1000rr.co.uk/parts-accessories-clothing/11752.htm Yet another! We weren't good enough when he owned the bike
I concur. Should have a minimum of 2789 posts, not that that I have any kind of vested interest of course.
I fully know where your coming from but the feedback I have been given by the majority of members over the past few years is quality not quantity. Having thousands of non active members and a huge bike for sale section or a smaller group of members who feel they have a voice on the forum, that is not there for just anyone who wants to see a bike but sims to help active members with any issues from fixing a bike to going out for a ride Hope that makes sense
I was just about to post exactly this point. To me the whole point of having a For Sale section on this site is that we very often know the person who's selling, the ins and outs of the bike in question or in many cases both of these details. That allows potential buyers to know that what's being sold is more than likely going to be a good machine and not your usual hitty-missy eBay quality. If the forum starts getting used by every Tom, Dick and Harriet to punt their sh*te on to some unlucky punter then it's missing the point.
