Arthur i need your guidance mate, If there is any other readers to this in the know them please also give your advice Nothing to do with the blade but my old mans BMW K1200GT First of all the bike is used every day for business all over the uk and ireland so its a 2006 and its on 50,000 miles the problem we have is that she has become hard to push in gear with the clutch in. In neutral she moves freely which he normally puts in in to push anyway as its a heavy lump but he can't remember how freely it moved in gear with the clutch in before . Surley it should move freely ? there is no sign of the clutch slipping , We both have tried cruising in 4th and then slamming on the power and she pulls like a train so I don't think the clutch is gone but is it a sign of it starting to go ? The clutch is hydraulic so I'm not sure how to tighten it up or if its even possible , the clutch line disappears behind the massive fairing . Any ideas or suggestions mate ? Do you think 50 k is about right for clutch trouble on a tourer ? Cheers fella and anybody that can help
Is the clutch fluid pipe rubber and has it been changed recently, rubber hydraulic pipe get soft and expand under weight, change for a braded hose? Just a thought
No havnt tried that , cheers guys . Will try it today Arthur ,, seen your comment on Simoncelli in MCN today mate
The guidlines for rubber brake and clutch lines is renew each three years, fluid each year but no one does.. Good luck.
Slave cylinder dan, bandit 1200 gave symptoms like that on my son in laws ride, have you got the full travel at the bar end? There's no way to adjust them. Ifitted him a new slave cylinder and it was new again. Hate hydraulic clutches!
Oh no not those pants again,,, I gave those back to FatTony....lol You can get seal kits for any clutch slave, yes they can be a pain but the problems are norm with the fluid, as its Hygroscopic and attracts water they fade off over time also as they have a smaller volume of fluid the effects can be worse plus the fact its hot cold hot cold all the time also does not help. I change all mine each year as I do customers bikes, most shops don't bother and in the end you end up with no travel as you say.. I would guess a good flush out and it will be good as new..
I told him to get a VFR actually but he insisted on a Beamer , Even after his first BMW got to 80,000 and developed electrical problems that 3 garages and BMW could not fix and when BMW finally gave up the told us that " to be honest at that milage the bike has done its job and they would not expect it to do much more " Cheers BMW lol
