I had mine fitted by a specialist about 1k miles ago. Be aware there are different "versions" of ventureshield, some are a lot newer than others and offer better protection etc. It's dead easy to look after and shines just like original Honda paint. Mines on a repsol so you can see where the edges stop/start but it is less noticeable on solid one colours. I would say if you have any scratches or chips before you apply the film it can make them look worse.
I fitted it to mine, not the easiest of jobs but well worth it. Especially if riding out with others as stone chips soon appear !!
Pro's and Con's imho. I had it on my ZX10R and it was the proper 3M Ventureshield, cost £180 fitted for the full kit. It does what it says on the tin in so much as it protects from scratches and minor stone chips but it won't stop a big un marking the paint and to be fair how could it. Down side for the OCD amongst you is that over 12 months or so it does start to collect dirt and stains at the edges so can start to look tatty on close inspection. Yes you could get those areas re-done and yes it'll be cheaper than repairing paint damage if it wasn't there in the first place. Ya takes ya choice I spose.
Stone chips seem to be a particular problem for the recent blades. I put Ventureshield on mine at around 1800 miles by which time I had picked up about half a dozen noticeable stone chips. A quick touch up before applying and you can barely see them now. It has a high gloss finish, also light scratches etc seem to disappear when exposed to the sun or pouring warm water over them. It is a personal preference, but if your paintwork is in good condition it's worth getting it protected in my opinion.
Fitted it to a few bikes and always found it to be worth while having And would be having it on the next bike as well
Had it previously fitted to a BMW HPS, a Ducati 1199R and my previous CBR100-RRA. If fitting yourself it can be pretty tricky bit when fitted professionally it is all but impossible to detect. At worst, if the Ventureshield picks up some nicks you can always peel it off. I am about to have it fitted to by new SP; cheap insurance in my book.
Had it fitted to my bike when brought new saved it from stones etc only down side my bike is now 5 years old and it's started to discolour
Had it fitted on my blade when I bought it ... As mentioned the edges look dirty when looking closely after 18 months and 15,000 miles ... Mainly on light colours (mine is pearl white) But it's no real big deal. The annoying thing is they don't do the bit for under the side fairing badge ... This chips quite badly on 08> blades ...
Fitted it myself when I got the bike new nearly 3 years ago and still looks good. It has saved the paint on the tail several times when I've been clumsy swinging my leg over and caught it with my sidi boots.
