Need advice! I've got a 2003 black and red fireblade... Amazing condition throughout. But...

Ok I'm a bit mental and I love being different and I've asked for a quote to respray the bike in a totally different colour scheme!!

1/ is this a really really bad idea?
2/ do people buy re sprayed CBRs?
3/ will this cost a bomb with DVLA?

    Help!!

I've attached a pic of the bike and of a car I have that's in the same flip paint, a real head turning vehicle!! image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

If its something you really want to do then buy another set of fairings and keep your originals

If it was me I'd source a full set of spare panels and tank and have them painted

It's not looking cheap to buy all of the parts to spray... I'm less enthused now :( it was £300 to have my current bike panels sprayed. It will cost £300 just to buy all second hand panels from eBay... argh! The project just doubled in cost.

    To answer point 2

Its like when you see car in such a colour, you can only imagine the owners blind and the guide dog picked the colour in the dark under pressure from the salesman.

But if it floats your boat, then enjoy it, its a free world.

Have to agree flip paint would make resale very tricky... Another set of fairings would be my preferred approach as others have said.

It shouldn't cost anything for your log book to be changed with new colouring at DVLA, I've done it a few times;)

Ok, the harsh truth, you will be spending money to lose money if you spray the original panels, any future buyers will knock you down on price, if they buy it at all. Don't do it. I like these bikes...... this was mine.

How about having it wrapped? Don't have to tell the DVLA and can be removed when you come to sell it.

1, not a bad idea at all. I did it to mine, but are your fairings already ok? In which case it may not be a good idea to mess with them.
    2, as mentioned, i did.
3, not sure the dvla charge for colour changes, but you could go with "Multicoloured" as many on here have.

The wrap idea is a good idea, change without permanent disfigurement :)
