Not sure how I feel now having ridden her, it felt stupidly quick I'll say that! Can't say I want to jump straight back on it but can't say I never want to ride it again.. It was nice to get back out on it, but think I've changed personally quite a bit over the last two years, now don't drink, got an awesome job, house with the mrs and a cat and gotten quite into road cycling. Whether i feel as though there's a lot more to lose now, plus with coppers looking to hammer motorists in general for more and more I wonder is it worth it? Anyone else had a break from the bike and felt the same?
You gotta cat WTF......All get days like that dude but not after a long lay off, cant wait to get out on mine specially after her winter lay up give it another go at the weekend if its not there get shut!
Kind of agree with you there mate (welcome back BTW). I go running and pootle along in the family car with my wife and young kids, so when I do get chance to go out on my blade I find it awesome and unbelievable quick.
Bad move there mate...a Cat? did you now know a Cat changes everything...lucky you aint got no little Kittens...otherwise the bike would go in a heartbeat... lol i have a wife and 3 kids, mortgage etc... My car and bike comes first, I just ride well within my limits and with care...
I had a 5 year layoff mate and now im back on a blade and loving every second of it .but it is a bit more risky now with a lot of really crap drivers on the road and the old bill will shag you big time if they catch you goin real quick,so I will agree I do have the odd rare thought of getting something a little less potent.
Yeah thoughts crossed my mind try something smaller, say 600cc or 899cc or just pack up the road riding for now and do track bike hire every now and again or the odd school such as Haslam, get to have a blast licence safe and with other like minded people.
I am not surprised the bike felt quick on a first day back on the bike after a long lay off, especially after cycling As has been said, go out again and see how you feel. Not sure a smaller cc like 600 to 899 would make a lot of difference unless you go for a non sports model. Some of the sports 600's are still very quick and top speeds are still license losing weapons. IMO if it does not float your boat any more then don't do it. No good doing something you do not enjoy, unless you have to. I look forward to my next ride on the way home from a ride. Nothing wrong with not riding on the road anymore if it's not doing it for you.
I took a year out last year, bought a gixer 600 to get back in the saddle so to speak then moved back to a blade. Was ideal and im loving riding atm you will know soon enough.
