Hi all my 04 cbr1000rr has a terrible crunch going into first gear, all other gears change fine and I havn't noticed any problems with them.
I changed the oil (which looked like it hadn't been done in a while) and I noticed emulsified oil on the filler cap (non in the oil). A week later and around 100miles later and the emulsed oil is back on the filler cap. I'm guessing the crunch is being caused by moisture contaminated oil? and if so why have I got moisture in my oil? any ideas, sudgestions or cures greatly appreciated :-D

A bit of a kick up the bum when engaging 1st is normal.........the emulsified honda snot not so good.
Short runs and not getting up to full temp can cause it cure is a damn good prolonged thrashing.
At worst a head gasket leak but unlikely and may well show in other ways.
Blocked or pinched crank case breather pipes maybe:confused:

will always happen when the bikes cold, should ease up when it's warmer, wouldn't worry about it,never known a bike not to do it tbh, esp.when cold.

if the mayo is just on the cap,it can be down to condensation forming around the cap,if there wasn't any other residue when you dropped the oil,i wouldn't too much, just keep checkng to see if it gets any worse.

There wasn't any in the oil and the coolant level hasn't budged! As for the first gear crunch....It's bad! I'm worried its gunna smash first gear its that bad, but it doesnt do it all the time, do you think fully synthetic oil will help at the moment i'm running motul semi synthetic to try and flush any nastyness out an was gunna change it after a couple of hundred miles? I only ask as all the research I've done always seems to lean towards oil and the clutch not working properly???? The clutch feels fine no slipping and all other gears go in smooth

I think the Emulsification and the gear crash may be two separate things. If 1st gear thing is really bad, could be the clutch. get it looked at.

Try holding in the clutch leaver for over 5 seconds before you ingage gear see if it helps!Usually worse first thing in the morning. As for what oil I think your aswell using the semi.

My bike clunks going into first and I run fully synthetic oil so don't see that as a cure.

I have heard a high idel speed can be the cause but cannot verify this just something I read in another post.
