After years of trying my first proper ride out with 55 profile rear and my mate telling me to 'get that shoulder down' etc, I finally did it, and then twice more, all in the last 10 minutes of a 3 hour Father's Day ride, lol! Sorry, random thread but had to tell someone as the wife doesn't care and the kids don't understand, pmsl!!
Yup well done .......Still trying myself ,did it twice a couple of years ago but in the quest I must have been whizzing around a roundabout about 80 mph which is perhaps not ideal My issue is not bottle but a roundabout which is not hammered all the time as once into the groove I find that I am either standing it up expecting traffic ( due to being unsited ) or standing it up due to cars appearing from nowhere . I can see me having to do Oulton Park just to fill my boots.
Never managed it on the road but still remember the joy when I did it on track last year (only one side though). Really well done mate, I'm sure it will come more and more often now, maybe next time you can get a picture of the knee down. Andy B
I was whooping with delight the first time I did it, was only a minuscule amount but I couldn't wait to stop and inspect my slider! It's very addictive, my ride usually ends with a lap of honour all the way round a few roundabouts before going home now
Not me either, still trying. But it must be a fantastic feeling that you can do like the GP boys do with ease!!
Cheers guys! Nice to see people are as excited about it as I was! I've been trying for years but never touched down. The 55 profile seems to turn in better but I'd say the biggest difference today was really dropping my inside shoulder and looking out past the mirrors. Only trouble is I'm desperate to get out and do it again now!!!
I remember the look my wife (girlfriend at the time) gave me when I burst into the bedroom in full leather and leapt onto the bed and straddled her so she could get a good look at he scuff on my slider! Lol
Well done matey, it's on my list of things to do. Hopefully this year and probably would have already done it if I could open my leg up more, so instead am having to do it the hard way lol
well done, and for those still waiting to pop their knee cherry, it comes far easier on the track so book some track days and you will knee down in no time or just find a big quiet roundabout, but watch out of lorry spills
Roundabouts are good but I’m always worried about spillages….. Oh and the only one way thing is a problem if you like your sliders to be fairly even ;-) I found a nearby car park (mostly empty on Sundays) which I took the 600 to after my test for more slow control practice….. would return every now and again more practice which also inevitably led to some knee down fun… Just had a new rear fitted to the Blade on Friday so went back to my old haunt on Sunday to bed the tyre in and check that knee down on the 1000 was the same as the 600…. It was but it took me a while due to a combination of not wanting to damage the new toy and also making sure I bedded the tyre in right. Tyre is a S20 Evo (50 profile) and it seems to have bedded in fine…. I’ve always liked the S20’s but may consider a change next time. Oh and I don't know about you guys but I find it much easier on the left than the right!
This was all on my right, yet to touch the left down! That's an amazing pic, any pics of the way you mounted the camera? I'm assuming a go pro?
get on track guys. self preservation on the road should come first. on track it just happens without trying and the bonus is you arent looking ten feet ahead for diesel spills !
